Timewarp Rover 200 BRM
Discussion
Excellent thread, thanks for sharing. My mum had a 200vi when I was a kid, spent many a happy day in that car, at the time believing nothing on earth could have been faster down the bypass.
We used to see a BRM on occasion, often called the "fish face" (that made sense to a 10 year old). I wanted one then, and I still do now. Have looked at the classifieds many times, but they went they've always been thin on the ground all the time I've been driving.
Enjoy!

The 200vi was a great car, been in a few. The BRM is better again, slightly slower to 60mph but same/better to 100mph due to the gearbox. But it's the front diff and handling that are the game changer, plus the lovely interior. We used to see a BRM on occasion, often called the "fish face" (that made sense to a 10 year old). The BRM is the closest thing to a DC2 ITR I've driven in terms of FWD ability and feel. The key difference the ITR is much more noise and brash about what it can do. The BRM is the refined longer distance GT style cousin. But with very similar abilities.
I loved mine (despite the engine going tits up), my uncle and auntie still have one they bought in like 2001. Nice to see one so original and tidy.
The gearbox and LSD were brilliant, best gearbox I have ever had in a car, only downside was that lump of ally on the top on hot/cold days, made me feel liek the SS leather coated bloke from raiders of the lost ark, still have an imprint in my palm
They handled very tidily and the engine is a peach, what i didnt like what the seats, not in terms of aesthetics as I very much like the junior Bentley/Soho S and M club aesthetic, its just I found you slid around in them.
Still fairly cheap but getting very rare, 121 left of the 800 or so produced, funny how they are so undervalued, maybe one day our home grown motor industry may get a little recognition beyond the usual sneering.

Greetings fellow BRM owner and congrats on finding such a minter! Looks amazing!
Mine, like many, was a bit sorry when I got it. Then I dailied it for a couple of years which made the rust even worse. They are sooooo much worse for rust than the other R8s! I fettled mine a bit and had all the rust fixed when it was resprayed. She lives in a garage now!
Agree with the other comments about the seats - no support at all. Add more grip from coilovers and they are hilariously bad.
I love mine and will never sell it!
Hopefully see you at Pride of Longbridge on 13th April next year. The number of BRM's decreases every year. My first year there were 37! The pic below was 2016 when I think we had about 22

I went many years ago in my ZS180 (when I had it-I miss that thing) and it was a great day out.

Some dealerships painted the orange snout silver because they thought it was hindering sales-they clearly didn’t get the reference...
I sold the new one we had, complete with orange snout. We considered painting it silver though as we had a couple of potential buyers say no to it because of the orange. Great fun to drive Fast Bug said:

Strong money is the answer to that! £5k
That was less than I was expecting you to say. I think that's a good price for a car that's genuinely special, and with low mileage and great condition. It's a great buy. Given what some people try to charge £5K for, thats a bargain.

Incidentally, are my eyes deceiving me or is that a piece of cardboard keeping the cams in place?

That's the cam locking tool - but it does indeed look like cardboard at a distance!
Thanks. It does look very odd doesn't it?Edited by itcaptainslow on Saturday 17th November 14:39
