Can't you just pull the fuses relating to the ABS system, that should knock that and traction control out? Looks amazing by the way!
We did try that and unplugging the ABS modulator, it caused the car to have a bit of a fit, gave us very limited power and locked itself in 3rd gear (some form of limp home mode) charlie-5mkmt said:
Some other things we learnt
Our seat mounts are pants. Rather wobbly and are way too high as you can see from the photos. So another job to add to the list is to get something better. So if anyone has an BMW e46 or e36 bucket seat mounts sitting the in garage then let us know (bolt spacing is the same as the range rover)
I have, can't remember if they are 36 or 46, I will have a look when I am in the shed nextOur seat mounts are pants. Rather wobbly and are way too high as you can see from the photos. Sod the Aston box and the 4.2, both of which you will end up blowing up: what you need is a Ford 5.4/5.8 Modular DOHC engine and a TR-6060 gearbox with Holley EFI to run the whole show as per Cleetus McFarland's Crown Victoria "Neighbor". The L322 engine bay certainly has room for the big quad-cam Ford, the 5.4 comes from the factory with a very conservative 500bhp, and there are a lot more performance parts (including stronger blocks) available for them. "Neighbor" was making over 900rwhp the last time it was on the dyno. If 1000+bhp wouldn't get you to your faster-than-the-SVR goal, I don't know what would...

You need to phone Swallows Jaguar near Bristol
They have done the manual V8 conversion, they do the stand alone ECU, clutch kit the lot. They also run some similar stuff like a defender V8 supercharged which I think is manual. Ask for Tom

And then tell him he needs to drive quicker to get the creaky 30 year old XJ40s off his tail
But yes, can highly recommend Swallows for making JLR products go like the clappers. They reckon they’re seeing 550hp out of their car this year after a reworking over the off season

So does anyone have any advice/recommendations for standalone ECU options and companies? Especially that are compatible with 8 cylinder engines and are relatively cost efficient.....
The standard answer to this question is Megasquirt, but whether that can cope with a SC engine I don't know.I have a half butchered one in my garage if that’s of any use? Might be usable. Send me an email.

We need to wire up our wheel speed sensors to switches on the dash as its way too much of a pain to unplug them under the car all the time.
despite our best efforts (painting the wheels and nothing else) the car still looks too normal. We have found a HUGE wing for sale so it looks like we are getting that hoping to get that sorted and on the car in the coming weeks.
Now for the most exciting bit..... We have found a chap who happens to have an Aston Martin MANUAL gearbox that in a previous life was in a jag XKR (the same engine as ours). Looks like this could be the one if we can raise the funds. This would mean we can ditch the sloppy auto box and front diff etc and over 100kgs with it. The negative is the amount of electrical problems it will give.
It looks like the best way out is just to removal all the factory ECU and go standalone. This really isnt our area of knowledge (all chassis engineers) So does anyone have any advice/recommendations for standalone ECU options and companies? The absolute state of that. Is it running on only the bump stops with no dampers or something?Understeer appears to be an issue.

Ok Youtube boy, are you going to buy those ridiculous suggestions, have them shipped over from America then figure out the headache to make it all work? Hey maybe they should put Shmee in the boot and have him squeal "hey guuuuys!" whenever they go round a corner too.RoverP6B said:
