For what it’s worth, I fitted the ipod kit (as above) to replace the cd changer in my M6.

It’s simple enough (takes about an hour), but if you’re used to more modern things, it’s not the best functionality ever. Basically, CD1 is playlists, CD2 is artists, CD3 is albums, CD4 is tracks (approx. - not near the car for 100% accuracy) etc.

I just leave an ipod in the glovebox & it’s done. Better quality than the aux streaming in my opinion. I imagine if you’re going to use your ‘phone, you’d route the connector into the centre cubby, which would lengthen the install time a bit, but would be completely hidden from view once parked up, and is easier than opening the glovebox all the time.

Didn’t need coding (I bought the OEM Alpine kit) - I assume it would be the same with the ebay one above, regardless of it saying it needs coding in the ad.
I have the BMW one. Was fit and forget basically. I'm selling it to a lad I know and going for an avin unit

Cheers guys. Will see how this Bluetooth thing works and go from there.

For anyone interested, here's the rod bearing report from Reddish who did the work 7k miles ago.

Great cars, love the colour OP and the wheels - but as another comment suggested they look even better diamond cut with the anthracite backs.

I had an e61 touring. Absolutely fantastic car, even with its problems. Ran it for the best part of 25,000 miles in 2 years as a daily driver. Had a bmw (Mondial) warranty which was used frequently! But even with the cost of the warranty, George Bestesque drinking habits (10mpg on the school run), it love of tyres and brakes - was still much cheaper to run than the e-class diesel that preceded it, as depreciation was zero.

Enjoy yours, miss the howl of the v10.

Great choice and great wheels!

Diamond cut finishes them off perfectly!

Look after your v10 and you won’t regret it - epic engine on any journey!

This is mine.

ok so both those pics make the style 167's look even better. Beautiful cars! (as beautiful as the E60 can look anyway)

I’m cheating slightly as mine are the rarer M6 Competition wheels which are an inch wider than standard and have an even sexier concave!

So Ordered the Blutooth device to stream music from my iphone, but struggling to get it to work.

This is the unit ordered

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CTABM1A2DP-BMW-5-Series...

After wiring it up i get the device and connect to it on my iphone but Aux in doesn't have any sound...

Thinking about the wiring, ithe pins on the jack didn't marry up with either the white or black ones on the headunit so i re wired the pins to match the 3 wries on the black plug but nothing doing.

Has anyone done this before that can help me work out what i've done wrong. Should it be the white socket i'm using instead, even though all three wires on that plug are white / translucent.

Apart from that slight issue i'm taking every opportunity to take it out for a drive and finding i prefer the ride on EDC setting 2, 1 is a little soft. Still massively enjoying it, even after a long, sobering chat with Angrydog...

I've ordered up some plain plates as the 'carbon fibre' effect plates look gash.

The clearances suggest all was OK with the old. What did they look like visually?

Reason I ask is that the aux isnt always coded in to the stereo so that could be your issue.

IIRC they are genuine for the M5 (options) but we’re standard on the M6.

I actually prefer them to the ‘normal’ M5 wheels.
100% prefer this wheel to the standard M5 options.

Top car, I'd love to run one but not brave enough.

Need to do some reading on this Avin unit that keeps getting mentioned!
I'm guessing it also works with the idrive knob? I really don't like touchscreens in cars, and on the E60 you'd have to reach pretty far. Does it do things like google maps too?

Works with the idrive knob and works with google maps, though why you'd want to do that I do not know. Waze is so much better.

Boom. So i've mainly been enjoying it over the last few weekends. I changed the carbon effect, M5 logo'd effect number plates to plain ones which makes me feel a little better, even if it's a minor change. the P.O had just stuck the new plates over the old private plates so it looked weird.

Was hoping to join the Sunday Scramble end of March, but will be in Belgium that weekend so it's a no go.

I'm driving to the Cotswolds this weekend so will grab some proper pics then, if anyone knows any decent roads that wend themselves back towards West London from there let me know.

So drove from London to Chipping Campden over the weekend. I unintentionally took a weird route in and out of the area, but was lucky enough to enjoy some fantastic b roads as a result, especially on Sunday as it was a lovely clear day. Using the paddle shift, the car is in it's element and is superb, even n some of the tighter bends. The active seats help a great deal too. I'm really enjoying the car and the appeal of the engine note isn't fading.

Wedding next week then will be off to Belgium the following week, will give her a rinse before then.
