Great news about the MOT, although I share your pain with Band M Road Tax. redface

But you would have got more value for money doing it in the middle of the month rather than half-way through!

At least it looks like we are getting a few dry days now so you can get the roof down to enjoy the sound. thumbup
Thanks very much Mr Tidy! beer

I was a bit frustrated with the halfway through the month tax thing as you say, but I just couldn't wait to get back in it though. smile

Enjoy Lee, I've just let mine go and I'm now in a Mustang. I was pretty sad driving away from it but was due a change.
How would you compare the Mustang to the 370z? V8 I assume?

Contemplating a fun rwd car and the Mustang gets my heart but the 370 Nismo is a bit of a bargain so I do wonder.
I'm very interested in the comparison too, plus I've always lusted after a V8 Mustang so much too. cloud9

Hi Stout,

I'm only a week into the Mustang but managed 400miles and the FOS. Early days then, but quite a few similarities. Mine is a v8, sounds great.

Chunky gear change and clutch action that are similar to the Z. Steering weight adjustable. Sport is v heavy and comfort about right. Switchable exhaust too and it sounds great in sport.

Pretty relevant is the auto blip on the downshift, mine is the 6 spd manual. It's a feature of the Z I thought I'd miss and it works very slightly better on the Ford I'm surprised to say.

I have pre-teen kids and they fit behind me and I'm 6'4". That was one of my reasons to change. When they look up they see through the glass of the boot panel which is fairly pleasant for them.

Performance is good! Similar power delivery but more of it and an ace sounds. Good modern screen for my android or carplay connection is a plus. Mpg v similar so far.

Most obvious negative is that it's a bit wider. Not a big deal but makes you breathe in a bit.

Hope that helps a bit!

All very interesting and useful stuff so thanks. Very surprised the downshift blip is decent on a Ford. Another tick for the Mustang.
I appreciated that too thanks(and ZX10's input). I need to get a go in one to see what they're like for sure.

I was out in the 370 again today, and I just love the way the clutch/gearbox and the hydraulic steering feel. I think Nissan did a cracking job with it really.

I've got my extension starting tomorrow, and I didn't want to put the 370 into storage really(I've already put the Caterham into storage), but finding somewhere to park 3 cars on the road is a bit much I think. So sadly I'm going to be without it again for 6 months more than likely. weeping

At least the storage period ensures they all feel special at least! I had a Caterham a few years ago. Funny how we often have quite similar 'garages'. Good luck with the building work.
Agreed, and it is isn't it?

Thanks very much for your kind words regarding the building work. I'm crapping it to be honest, because I can be a bit of a stressed Eric with stuff like that!

Enjoy your Mustang. driving

I took it into storage today, and I'm glad I have. It was doing my head in seeing it so dusty out on the road, especially because I've never seen it like that because I always garage it usually.

I'll definitely miss it, but it is better than it sitting outside on the road for months though I think. It amazes me how attached to it I am really, because it is only an old/cheap Nissan at the end of the day, but I do love it though(especially the noise and they way it drives).

I don't rate his opinions too highly TBF.

He thought the BMW Z4 Coupe 3.0Si was better than the M, but having had both I know he's just wrong!
We always jostle a little bit with our opinions regarding the Z4M Mr Tidy don't we? smile

I never rated my Z4M Roadster very much, whereas I've been smitten with the 370Z Roadster in comparison, in the same way that you're smitten with your Z4M Coupe. beer

I loved how Jay commented on the steering and the chassis to be honest, because they're both very good in my opinion as he mentioned. The hydraulic steering is loads better in the 370 in comparison to the electric steering in my F82 M4 for example.

The chassis in the 370Z is far more compliant too, and the 370 soak the bumps up better for me, whereas the M4 crashes around far more in my view.

Lee, as you're now a convert to the multi-car garage, do you think the M4 is just too big & heavy for an M car? By which I mean would you be better off with a softer 440 (still quite torquey) and then have a couple of fun cars. Let the 4 series shine with its refinement and leave the stiffer set up to the 2 series?
It is a tricky one to be honest. I do love the M4 as a daily, but the ride does niggle me a bit, but I blame some of that with me being in my early 50's though, so I'm generally chasing a more compliant ride really now(I love the X5 on it's air suspension for example).

The F82 M4 isn't actually too bad size and weight wise(around 1600kg) in comparison to the current generation G82 M4 at 1800kg, but still not small or light granted.

I am personally a big fan of the 440i, and I think that would arguably make the better all round daily as you suggest for sure. thumbup
