Ha, it's taking some stick on the video, but also some praise.

I suspect anyone giving it any stick will be people who have never driven one, or have “a mate who had nothing but bother”

Once you’ve driven one you get it, they’re absolutely mega. That engine is a very special thing.

Ha, enjoyed the video .. does he want to review a late-model E92 V8 in a similar colour?

Often the case, usually spouted by people who aren't prepared to maintain a V10 engine. Infact I have someone telling me it is a money pit because two people he knew had one and they had issues, and from posts on PH. I would expect that they didn't want to, or didn't have, the funds to maintain the car properly.
Ironically he owns a car also known to be unreliable, the MK3 Focus RS, which is a plastic RS imo. It is a supercar engine in a 4 door saloon. How cool is that?

You can always ask, might be an opportunity to compare against his recently departed supercharged M3.

Quite a story to tell, I am glad you got to enjoy the car. I also enjoyed the video on Jayemm, nice bloke. He did the video of my ZT, the comments can be amusing to say the least as you allude to!

Cheers. I recall yours, it's the supercharged V8? Lovely car, I am a fan of the ZT, though 8 only owned a diesel one.

Yes that's the one. I enjoyed your car history, looking forward to your next journey.

Well I can understand why you might feel that way given what you experienced. frown

But at least you now have a V10 M5 that is running properly, which has to be a fantastic experience every time you fire it up - they sound awesome! thumbup

Just watched the JayEmm video and suddenly realised it was your car when he statprted talking about the history and then I saw the stickers.

The car sounded lovely and I’m glad it’s still running. That engine is a bloody masterpiece and we’ll never see anything like is shoehorned into a saloon car ever again. They can clearly be expensive to run, but so I an RS6. It’s the nature of the beast with these things and you need to go in with your eyes open and not be seduced by the relatively modest prices once depreciation has hammered them.

Hopefully it stays reliable! I do enjoy driving it, I just sometimes get bored of it when I'm not lol.

Cheers, I hope you enjoyed the video. It is definitely the last of its breed sadly. Anything with 10 cylinders is going to be expensive to run. I went in eyes open and still got hammered.

True, but I guess if the first garage were not incompetent / complete a-holes the damage to your wallet would have been far more palatable.

The damage would have been largely non existent. I may need to consider a second job to replenish my savings at this rate!

Just watched the video and thoroughly enjoyed it. thumbup You must be buzzing to get your car reviewed like that, and I would be over the moon if one of my cars had that type of coverage. cool

The exhaust/intake mods make such a difference for sure. smokin I remember the first time that I heard a standard one idling and I was so disappointed(JayEmm eluded to that also in the video), especially considering the size of the engine and the amount of cylinders.

Enjoy the car. smile

Thanks Lee, I will give you a proper reply when not on my phone mate.

Sit rep, car is broken. Currently awaiting recovery truck to collect me and car and take me to my indy who will look at it next week. Don't worry, the engine is fine, but something on the near side front suspension has failed as when I brake it feels like the feel is moving. I have to perform an emergency stop and felt and heard something snap. It will be a suspension arm / anti roll bar(?). It doesn't appear to be the strut, just annoying but c'est le vie.

I admire your dedication to the cause, I would be driving the cheapest lease car I could find by now. Having owned cars that gave problem after problem I used to dream of any car no matter how rubbish that just worked.

A snapped arm / ball joint could happen to anyone on any car. It is what it is.

Gratuitous on the back of the recovery truck shot. A shot all E60 M5 owners will have taken at some point!
