When we were young we wanted those bits pieces we couldn't afford. Now we're older we can maybe afford them if other things didn't take priority. Feel young again and buy what makes you happy. Getting old doesn't have to be about being sensible, well not all the time.

Frayz, can you drop me a PM, here or CS on the spec of those, and if not too cheeky, cost?
(I've just TODAY taken delivery of RPD's offer on half price cup dampers FFS!)

(Lead supplier from Newcastle ) biggrin

You will be the envy of all of Cliosport.net mate. Speedlines, Lowered, Silvervisions. Perfect

Agree with the 15's, dont think 30mm is quite enough from springs just looks a little odd

Missed out on the flame red unfortunately - bit gutted. After that Albi Blue 197 in the CS classifieds now but getting hold of the owner is like getting blood from a stone.

May look at a couple other Flame Reds and work on it as a project, bring it up to good standard

Can’t help it. I’ve fully got the bug for it with this.
Trying to build a proper road car as opposed to a stripped out track car like everyone else does.

I respect that. You’ve taken this in the direction that I intended to take my cup but I ran out of steam. (Funds redirected into property) That’s not to say that this summer won’t see a fresh attack on waxoiling and general preserving of the car in its current state but I would interested to know what those coilovers feel like compared to the oem set up. They better be bloody good for the price!

In my first tenure of the car i did all i could to keep it as stock as possible even though there was so much i wanted to do with it.
This time around its different. She's done 120k miles now and its never going to be worth any financial sum, its worth more to me in memories and driving enjoyment. So happy to play with it but hopefully not detract from the ethics of the little hot hatch smile

Haha, Cliosport i think has just as many old boys like me now mate who are as much about saving and preserving the cars as there are cutting them up to build track weapons. I agree the Eibach spring/Cup damper combo isn't quite enough for 15" wheels.
But they do work exceptionally well as an OEM road damper and frankly they feel better than many significantly more expensive units. I hope with the AST's to have damping and chassis control that exceeds the halo'd Trophy with more adjustability and service life.

Those wondering why i didn't fit the Trophy Sachs, i have the following issues.

Difficult to source - They extremely scarce now, although new ones can be had from Holland, however not sure how long for and would mean me buying blind.
Damping adjustment - Not adjustable unless you pay to have them de-pinned, even so that only leaves you damping adjustability on the front axle.
Not ride height adjustable.
Not that robust - They have been known to fail at all sorts of mileages, some lasting as long as 80k miles, some letting go after less than 10k miles.
Limited parts/expensive serviceability - There are a couple of Sachs agents who will service the Trophy dampers, however it means the car being off the road for extended periods and they're very expensive to service, circa £700 from the quotes ive had.

AST/Moton have a good UK based facility with on site support and all parts are readily available. Springs and valves can always be adjusted or re-setup should my needs change in future. Admittedly not taken delivery yet, but their customer service so far has been very good. Lets just hope they work as well as im lead to believe.

Best of luck on your search, is it just a flamer you're after? That Monaco you posted on the gold willys looks mega.

Property is a better investment dude, always time for Clios later.
Will 100% report back on the dampers good or bad smile

Few little trinkets arrived for WZD yesterday.

Seat belt receptacles for me to progress my Recaro install.

Some 16mm front spacers to suit the 2118s.

And lastly, a cheeky little dutch delivery from AST/Moton. Thought I’d get some detail photos before they go on as they’re unlikely to ever look this pretty again.
These will be coated in ACF50 before going on and will wear damper covers to protect them as the car will be driven in all conditions.

That’s some very smart looking suspension.
I must admit it is a brand I’m not familiar with.

Take a look. They do some pretty high end, high quality kit.
Best part for me was they were able to build them to my needs as opposed to fitting race quality dampers to a road car that are hugely unsuitable for the roads due to being too stiff and setup for circuit.
This enabled me to have race quality dampers built bespoke that are actually sprung and valved properly for the road.
