Nice to see it being loved and getting some use. Looks great.
Think the reason they don't map that well is the old design of head, you cant get much more air into it easily.
Cheers bungz!! I think you're right as a decat and uprated intercooler with another remap will only add around 10bhp!!!Think the reason they don't map that well is the old design of head, you cant get much more air into it easily.
Another little update, I know , I spoil you lot!!!
Rio was taken on a fair trip yesterday from Southampton to Avebury Manor, only around 70 miles each way, but we chose to take the back roads home, was a lot of fun and this time Mrs Bobbers didn't threaten to throw up on me!!!
I'm really pleased with the way he goes now, pick up in any gear is good, certainly made accelerating from a standstill joining a fast A road less stressful!!
But I now think he needs more traction and possibly better brakes.
So some research shows that Mondeo ST alloys will fit without issue giving me 18 inch wheels with 225/40/18 tyres, so lower profile and +20mm wider, also means I can move to Michelin Pilot Sports and they look very similar to the alloys already on him.
As for brakes, Focus ST discs are 320mm to my current 300mm discs and the calipers are a bigger piston too I believe, I think I'll be getting some ST calipers and refurbing them, then pairing them with EBC dimpled and grooved discs and Yellowstuff pads, however if people have a better suggestion I'm all ears!!

Research, Research, research and a bit more research just to be sure!!!
So then, brake fluid, we all have it in our cars, how many of us actually know anything about it?!?
For a start it's hygroscopic which means it absorbs water for sts and giggles!!
It needs changing every couple of years to stop this from happening and the longer it's left the more degraded the fluid becomes which means the boiling point lowers and causes............spongy brake pedal time!!!
Mine hasn't been changed for certainly over 3 years, I've had Rio since September 19, and I'd bet a bk it wasn't changed for some time before that!!!
Sssoooo first thing I need to do is change my brake fluid for some decent stuff, so many to choose from!!!
And I need to find somewhere that'll actually change it for the fluid I want!!!
Looking into the whole calipers/new discs/better pads thing has highlighted that it would quite probably be a waste of money on Rio as he's not really putting out enough power to really make use of them.
The better option appears to be new fluid, assess, then more aggressive pads as the discs are capable of withstanding more abuse, so that's the plan of action for now, he's off to my friends bodyshop for hopefully the last bit of work at the end of June to have a small amount of rust taken care of and a badly repaired rear corner to be put right.
In the meantime this happened yesterday, not bad for a 14 year old car!!

Glad to see Rio is still going strong. How is Peanut? So then, brake fluid, we all have it in our cars, how many of us actually know anything about it?!?

I can understand wanting the highest DOT specification your car can take but not so sure the actual brand of brake fluid is that important. Or are you saying the garages won’t confirm what DOT number brake fluid they would use?
I'm not convinced that some garages would do anything other than change the fluid for what they have in stock, I have a Gunson Eezibleed so I should be able to change it myself, possibly, maybe, perhaps, probably.....Bobberoo said:

I am sure you can do it. What's the worst that can happen? Scrump said:

I am sure you can do it. What's the worst that can happen? Time for a bit of an update, Mrs Bobbers excitedly pulled me outside on Wednesday insisting I take a picture of Peanut's milage!!
She still absolutely loves her little car and regularly asks to go for a drive in it!!
Rio continues to be great fun to drive, surprising a number of cars with his ability to go quite well and corner at silly speeds!!
This weekend we replaced a 6x6 panel, a 3x6 panel and 3 4x6 panels, these were cut into pieces and all of it went into Rio, along with several other bits we needed to get rid of!!
He was treated to a mini valet at our local Tesco's, and to be honest they do an excellent job for £27, sadly neglected to get a picture of him looking very shiny!!!
We're booked in to a hotel for the weekend for the PistonheadsSunday Saturday Service on the 16th July and I have secured a ticket for myself and Rio, if you see me/Rio please come over and say hello!!!

A nupdate, Peanut went on a road trip!!! All the way to Cambridge and back!!!
She managed around 300 miles last weekend without fault, comfortable and enjoyable, i haven't checked the averageMPG but we only used 2/3 of a tank!!!
Cambridge is a fascinating place with an amazing history, we had a punting tour down the river and visited the American war graves memorial.
Sadly no pictures of Peanut on her adventure but we're really rather pleased with how easily she managed it!!
Treated them both to a clean today so have a picture of the pair of them!!!
