Nice car!
I have a body damaged Spyder Cambiocorsa that I need to start repairing in the spring. Everything fundamental is straight but I need to recommission it and replace several panels and the radiators etc.
OP, what repair/garage manual are you using please?
I'm not... But please let me know if you find one...I have a body damaged Spyder Cambiocorsa that I need to start repairing in the spring. Everything fundamental is straight but I need to recommission it and replace several panels and the radiators etc.

Had a weekend off working on cars last week. Instead I went over to Cricceth for a weekend away celebrating some friend's birthdays;

The drive over via Bala was largely enjoyable, traffic was heavy and the average speed cameras are a PITA as I found myself permanently focused on my speed rather than avoiding puddles (which are know for wrecking engines in 4200's as the air intake is so low down) and the sun was low in the sky making visibility particularly problematic.
I wasn't looking to be a hooligan, the cameras just made difficult driving conditions even more so.
The drive back was OK, I elected to go home via the quickest route - A55 rather than the more "fun" alternatives. I did have a prat in a Mondeo tailgating me in the 30 limit in the tunnels - The centreline is double solid whites so you can't change lane. But he did, undertaking on the inside, on the approach to the deristricted limit (why?)... I then passed him in the 70, doing 70 and he sped up reppassed me with his passenger call me a fanker whilst filming the whole thing on his phone.
I know that's a bit of a rant but there is a point to this in that I'm now wondering if it's an isolated incident of a couple of ball washers being idiots or whether I can continue to expect this kind of reaction...
Anyway, there was one other, fundamental, problem with the whole trip in it and that was I was effing FROZEN the whole time due to the heater matrix not being connected.

Unfortunately, my plans to fix the hater matrix were stymied by the car when the drivers window regulator failed during the week and the glass dropped into the door. Looks like a new regulator is around £400. Mint.
But I took it apart today to see if it could be fixed as there are various ways in which they fail;

(The tape on the door is topic the CF finish whilst I pried the trim off)
Yet again, the parts I'm working on are going to need some attention;

This is just plain annoying. But it's a cheap speaker anyway. I'll upgrade them soon.

As was this. FFS. (missing inner shield)...

This oddity fell out the door as I was taking it apart;

I thought it was a drive gear which would have likely meant the mechanism was scrap, but it appears not;

It retains a clockwork spring that helps move the window mech;

IMG_2039 by Chris, on Flickr
Which is good news as I think it can be repaired. However, I have no clue how to realign the mechanism, tension the spring, where too set the window, and how to sort out the micro-switches. Securing the broken part against the tension of the spring is going to be difficult to, I imagine.
I've put it aside for now (aka, given it to my Dad and asked him to look at it) and I started stripping the dashboard out;

Whilst I gave up on it as I was wet and cold, I've not found anymore halfwitted bodgery which, for once, was a nice surprise.

Only just came across your thread, thanks for sharing and great to see the lengths you are taking to get it working right and pretty much yourself.
After reading the Barges thread recently and thinking of changing my Gtv v6 for a big Lexus, your thread has got my head back to keeping it and fixing the niggles. Actually just took it out for a drive 3x as long a route as needed.
Heater matrix bodge was crazy but not completely surprised, I had an issue too and was given an suggestion to attach a switch in the engine bay to disable it when the weather's hot so warm air doesnt leak into the cabin.
Is the Masser quite refined for cruising, noise and comfort (excluding engine/exhaust)?

I don't think I've ever bought a car more than 10 years old and not found at least one bit of inept bodgery. fked up electrical installations for tow hitches, and cack handed stereo/bluetooth installs are the most frequent offenders. Very sad to see that even a fantastic car like that is not immune to such fkwittery, good luck sorting it all out.

I'd keep the GTV - I have a 147 GTA and, as a car it's on a par with the Maser. Probably faster in a real world A-B route because it's FWD, more usable in the real world, parts are cheaper and it makes as nice a noise. The GTA also has better throttle response.After reading the Barges thread recently and thinking of changing my Gtv v6 for a big Lexus, your thread has got my head back to keeping it and fixing the niggles. Great minds think alike! And love the colour.

I've not been keeping this quite as such. I'd been looking for a 4200 for a while, at least 12 months and certainly before PH posted there "spotted" article;
https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-eurocars/maser...
(Thanks for highlighting that Matt...)
For some reason, probably socio-economic, the search for one was particularly difficult as most 4200's are entered around London, which is a 4-500 mile round trip for me. The other problem was of my own doing. I wanted a Gransport rather than a 4200.
They're effectively the same car, the 4200 is better spec'd, equipment wise but the GS is regarded as the better drive.
After looking at a number of cars, all in the same far away location, on separate occasions, I wasn't exactly conned into buying a car but the high pressure sales tactics that, only with hindsight, have become apparent resulted in my purchase.
Most would have described this thread using the phrase "brave pill"...
So why call it the wedding dress? Well, it's fuji white. I showed a picture of it to the girls in the office before I went to see it and they described it as such.
The interior isn't much better in terms of colour choice, but then again, most 4200's look like they've been spec'd by Stevie Wonder.
