Completely pointless and loads of work. And therefore fantastic. Hat's off to you Sir!
Have to admit I've always prefered the shape of the 924 to the 944. It's prettier.
Lol it is bonkers to do this ai know, but will be worth having the only Audi V8 924 that is 100% complete. The 924 is very pretty compared to the 944NA, I do like the S2,and Turbo look a bit more then the 924, not by muchHave to admit I've always prefered the shape of the 924 to the 944. It's prettier.
Thank you Very much PH for this epic article on my swap!!

Since I striped out the 924 interior harness, relays, and fuses, I am going to replace it with the A8 interior harness. I have already cut out over 2000 feet of wiring in this harness. I will continue to remove more as I go.
Sounds like a lot of work !Amuses me when people say just throw an <Insert different engine> into it.

Lol certainly has been, but lots of fun!Amuses me when people say just throw an <Insert different engine> into it.
Theh do have some intall kits for some engine, but still lots of wiring involved for running. Plus a lot of the kits do not come with a means of Heat or AC hook ups

Yes, mine is from an Audi logitudinal 4 pot 20v
Thanks for clearing that up Caddyshack. What are you thoughts of changes? Happy to help with tech if i canI like the idea of swapping to the V8, I wonder if right hand drive would present any problems?

You are welcome. It has been alot of work and tonnes of fabrication. for RHD, you might not be able to keep AC, also might have to cramp the header down to clear. if you get a early 4.2 32V might be less cutting involved. I have to cut and weld my Strut towers, drivers and Passenger Firewalls too. I like the idea of swapping to the V8, I wonder if right hand drive would present any problems?
Picture to give you a bit of idea of what I have to do for my drivers side.. Now if you can weld, and fabricate. it is a noble undertaking.
Very interesting build thread that I am watching with interest. I am interested in seeing what engines fit in these 924/944 chassis as potential future replacements. I love the look of the 2.7 V6 however I’ve never worked with one and I have no idea if it would fit size wise. I also quite like the Volvo T5 motors but again, have no idea if they’d be compatible.
I have a parts car in the garage. I’m very tempted to remove the engine and give one of these conversions a go.

I am part way through putting a vag 20v turbo in a 944 but this thread has got me thinking. My car is RHD UK.
Am I right in thinking I was reading your build thread on passion ford? Also have a TT? If so I was looking through your build thread the other day and it was quite interesting. I had a BAM powered TT many years ago and loved the thingI'd say something to be careful about with another inline engine is whether it needs to be fitted upright, with how the original engines are canted over and a lower bonnet line corresponds to that.
Escy has a thread on putting the 2.7T V6 into Boxsters ( https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...), I'm sure he can tell you a hell of a lot about the size of them and relative clearance of exhausts each side etc.
