Gosh those wheels look ace. I will have to consider Lepsons for the Saab 900's Ronals.

Good stuff, really enjoying the updates.

Years ago Lepsons did a set of Senator 24V basket weaves for me - they were champagne centres with silver rims on a one piece rim so couldn't do a while you wait job so I stuck a set of polac steels and tyres on the car and ran them down to them (250 mile round trip) - collected a week later - they did a superb job - I've not seen a set done as well since.

I got a new set of tyres fitted (tyre fitters under pain of death of they scratched them) and they looked stunning

A week later a transit van forced me over to the kerb in a narrow two way street and I kerb'd two of them

I cried...........................

I watched a few episodes of ‘Return Of The Saint’ the other day and in every scene where the white XJ-S appears it never looks anything other than achingly cool. The ‘main’ car has a beige interior and metal sunroof but it’s clear they used another for some of the stunt work as it has a black interior and no sunroof.

Yesterday I received a short video clip of a potential purchase, an ‘80s 3.6 manual which overall looks very nice, but the rot at the bottom of the rear wings is putting me off a bit. Great colour combo though, red with a black interior.

Very nice, let me know how it goes!

Both Doris and the facelift XJR-S went to their new homes last week. Both sold through themarket.co.uk and I'm happy with the prices achieved for both. However I certainly do have that new car itch....

I’ve watched the video and the corrosion is pretty bad at the rear end, plus it looks like there’s mismatching paint on one of the doors. It is a nice car, but I think I’ll pass and look for a better one. Definitely got the XJS bug though wink

I see from the other thread that you’re interested in that rozzer S-Type Jag project, good luck!

Another random XJ-S pic, but it shows what a great example of styling and industrial design it was from the start, in my (biased) view anyway....

I can't seem to keep away from this thread - I found this clip of your 6.5 XJS the other day Luke, from 2018....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8f7hTS6hFb8

It really is a wonderful looking car, I'm not normally very keen on bodykits but the Chasseur kit suits it very well, and white is one of the best colours on any XJS. The more I look at it, the more I think it actually looks better on the car than the factory rubber bumper set up. I had another skim through the thread earlier today and picked up on the post from last year where you ran through the car's history from new in Leamington, I remember that dealer in Rugby Road as my Dad's uncle used to take his cars there many years ago. I know 'E732 WOL' isn't on your for sale list, but do you think you might part with it one day?

Hope you don't mind a bit of tweaking on one of your photos of it....

Edited to add this - I wonder how many left the factory with this style of vinyl roof....?

Yes, that is my video, as I'd imagine you guessed. Still got a couple of the other cars from that too. I wasn't a fan of the Chasseur bodykit when I bought it, and had planned to change it, but the more I looked at it and considered the car, the more I realised I had to preserve it and only change things that would enhance it and still respect its individual history. It is a fantastic car to own and drive, and I will do my best to never sell it.

It isn't my photo, but rather the photo of a very talented photographer (and generally great person) called Virgiliu, who is on Instagram as quicklizzard (well worth a follow!).

I think the vinyl was actually dealer fit, but you don't see many with a vinyl roof, and I love it!

I'm not on instagram but I'll have a shuftie wink

I'm still trawling through the for sale ads, there are some very tempting cars out there with the prices varying quite a bit. There a some cheapish projects about too but having spent almost a year and a half having my Cooper S restored I'm after something that is on the button and ready to go. I spotted a 4.0 manual on carandclassic.com yesterday which looks ok, I didn't realise they only made twenty eight manuals with that engine. I'd prefer an earlier one really, but I do like the look of the facelift cars and I'm not averse to living with an auto. Onwards!

Yesterday was another trip to Yorkshire and back for J258, so near enough 500 miles in total. As expected it did it all beautifully and with no issues other than the external passenger door handle has stopped working, and that should be fixed later today. The alternator belt is also being replaced as though it doesn't have any cracks or visible problems, my mechanic isn't happy with it.

Whilst I was out on the road, the tyres for the XJR-S arrived. £1400 worth!

What a nice way to do 500 miles smile

Quick question(s) for you Luke - is the US spec quad headlamp conversion an easy DIY job and roughly how much would it cost?

To be honest I've never done the conversion, as I prefer the standard lights. However, I believe you can still buy new lights and the cost of purchase and fitting could be covered by selling the original lights (if in good condition), as they are more sought after and no longer manufactured. Removing the lights is reasonably straight forward.

Took the Alpine out briefly yesterday....

Thanks - didn’t realise the original Cibies were NLA.

The Alpine looks tiny, almost toylike in that pic!

Another minor update....

Earlier in the week I ran up to King's Lynn to collect a couple of automobilia items that my dad had bought, and of course the Jag did its best impression of a van, and was just pretty perfect in general.

Later on in the week I finally got it into the workshop as I'd been forewarned that the alternator belt had seen better days. As you can see that was correct, and it even had a hole in it. Unfortunately the replacement was incorrect and so the Jag had to be left at work meaning I needed something else to get me home....

....which was the GTA, which had had a new set of tyres this week. A nice easy drive home, with the new tyres proving their worth and a great improvement. I was also very impressed with the headlights which are also much better than the Jags. And, of course, it sounds wonderful. However, it is another car that will be going up for sale very soon....

Well, today is the day my little MGB left for another home. Sad to see it go, but glad its gone to good people who'll look after it, enjoy it and improve it.

Also, last week the Alpine headlining (which has drooped ever since I bought it, finally decided to drop down fully, just as I was about to leave for home, so I got covered in bits of old foam.

After getting it hoovered and more of the foam removed, I managed to live with it up until yesterday when it could finally be replaced. My workshop guys don't usually do this sort of job, but they did it brilliantly, and I'm very happy with it!

Can't see the photos as they'e blurred out, and though the mileage tallies up, that looks like it has buckets which mine never had. Would be a shame to see it being modified as a track car though.

Just in case anyone is interested in keeping up with what this thread is actually about, there is a small Curfew Jag update! Basically its in case you're interested in seeing just how badly I managed to damage it....
