Worth a try.
Is that what they just said ? I still think if they tried hard enough they could make it happen. Absolute shame on BMW for the handling of this entire fiasco Worth a try.

Yes. Although its all a bit mad. The AUC warranty should only cover to the value of the car last sold by BMW inc VAT. So far the claim has being double that figure... Waitey said:

I'd say that makes this a very prudent buy for you. You've just bought a half price engine, and happened to get an ALPINA with it.
OP, I am having a similar problem here in Germany with my B5. A few weeks after buying I noticed blue smoke and oil consumption. To cut a very long story short, after many visits I had my engine rebuilt last December by the dealer I bought the car from ( BMW but NOT Alpina ) and have two years warranty on that work. Sadly they made a pigs ear of it and my new engine goes through a litre of oil every 500-600 KM. I still have manufacturer warranty so went to a local dealer ( who are a legit Alpina outlet ) but the warranty company don't want to know as the dealer that repaired it are now responsible. However the dealer I bought it from are absolutely the worst scumbags I have ever known so will never take my car back there as they are clearly incapable of repairing it properly ( not to mention all the damage they did etc etc ). I have written to BMW head office and made a formal complaint but they are just not interested either. To say I am annoyed is an understatement. So now I am locked in a legal battle to get them to take my car back and refund my money which will take years no doubt.
So I finally have my dream car which I can't keep ( unless I pay for another rebuild myself at circa 20,000 pounds ) due to some cowboy not knowing what they were doing. Oh and thrashing my car full throttle on it's first test run! Unluckily for them I was out testing an M2 Comp and I couldn't keep up with my B5! Whether I can afford it or not is immaterial as far as I am concerned as the car still has dealer warranty so I am not paying out of principal.
So mate I have every sympathy with your warranty plight.

Looks like BMW are using every trick in the book to squirm out of any responsibility! Appalling. How does any of that square with CRA 2015/fit for purpose etc?Seek said:

Awesome. What's the colour again?
Glacier Silver (A83). I had an F30 B3 Touring in the same color.Congrats OP! Sorry to have cursed your car originally by stating it went surprisingly well.
Great to see you have it back in good order now!
There is another awesome BMW colour that I have seen a few times on the latest 7 series and another 4 series - a dark grey but a moonstone type indefinable shade that looks incredible.

This is really disappointing to hear. I do feel for you.I absolutely adore my D3 but the worry that it’s not going to be looked after properly at every service, regardless of it being done at BMW, is a nightmare. The lack of support by the manufacturer/BMW on these cars is atrocious considering the premium we pay. I live on the Isle of Wight so I can’t be driving up to Nottingham to the sole Alpina dealer every time I need something done!
Waitey, great to hear you have the car back.. and looking as clean as my 35k miler I might add! Hope it’s as good as it can be.

Without wanting to piss on your chips, without any form of warranty, the car has zero value. It’s usual for any warranty fitted parts to come with a two year warranty if fitted by a dealer. I would be looking for more, unless you paid a price reflecting mileage in the first place ?
Eh? I’ve run my E46 M3 without warranty for 10yrs and only had to replace consumables and rear coil springs’cos they are made of cheese. Everything else has been tickety boo. Talk about pissing on the OP’s chips. He’s been immensely patient and has a mega car (great colour) back in full working order with a brand new lump under the bonnet. I wish him many more miles of trouble free motoring in it.
At least they washed it for you too OP!
