Gladen speakers along with a DSP and amp installed. Audio is much improved now!

2000 miles in 3 weeks on the new engine. So far so good.

Seems to have settled at just under 43mpg. Saving me nearly £150 a month in fuel over the Range Rover.

New dampers are working a treat too.

I know it was a debacle of the finest order but that car will go on forever now. Everything else is orders of magnitude cheaper than a fresh engine.

My boss has a late E61 535d and blew up the box and engine within 6 months of each other (box due to an extremely zealous poor remap, and engine ran the big ends when his mechanic didn't tighten the sump plug properly)

New box and rebuilt from the ground engine at a cost of over €12k, he knows it's a keeper as the clock on those has been reset to zero. Suspension and brakes are all easy bolt on stuff. Wiring doesn't break down like it used to. I wouldn't have the slightest doubt that both these cars will go on for another decade with no major work to engines whatsoever

So since I bought this the rear was always a bit bouncy.

After getting all the history checked it was evident that the rear dampers had done 222k!

Anyway while it was at BMW I asked for them to be checked to be told they were fine..... knowing they were most likely knackered, I ordered a set of updated LCI adaptable ones.

On fitting them tonight this is the state of the old dampers...

The one on the left has no oil in it at all and no bump stop left. The adaptive actuator isn’t connected either.

The one on the right has no bump stop left and most of the oil is on the outside...

So yeah, pretty fine BMW...
Can you feel any difference since replacing these?

Like a different car at the rear.

Still pillow soft, just not with the bounce afterwards.

This on sport plus is about as stiff as a standard M sport.

3000 miles done in the 4 weeks since I got it back.

All is well.

Good to see its still taking the mileage well!

Will book it in for a service at 230k which will be around December.

Glad the extended stay at the menders didn't do anything else to it. I'm envious of the mileage being racked up. Mine's fallen off of a cliff this year. No client visits since March for me!

What's it rated for? Some surprising towing weights, my parents' 75 Tourer with Nivomat self-levelling, 1860kg over its own weight. My Mondeo with nothing special, 2000kg beyond its already porky 1550kg!

I thought the new regs mean any and all trailers have to be braked. Even those a frame things you use to tow a little car behind your motorhome have to work the car's brakes.

My small Ifor Williams (non braked) is rated at 750kg, I believe that is the maximum.

I also have a larger one similar to the OP and that is rated at 2000kg (but they can go up to 3500kg subject to tyres etc).

6 weeks after collection and there’s 4500 miles on the new engine.

All going well. Needs some new rear tyres though, and a wash.

Looking Good! I've just treated my D3 to a genuine Alpina Indoor Car Cover.

I'm get the impression that you probably wouldn't bother with that kind of thing laugh
