Beautiful car.

What a fabulous car. While you’re stuck indoors, may I commend to you Stanley Sedgwick’s Motoring my Way (2nd Edition, much more in that one). He was a big fan of the Double Six and frequently raked his over the continent.
This looks tremendous. 101 litres of super unleaded depleted in 1 hour 45; a gallon every 5 minutes. Proper motoring.

That looks fantastic - can we have some more details ?
Of course. What would you like to know?
I’ve always wondered how they drive ? Is it super comfortable ?

It’s a super relaxing place to be; the V12 was renowned in its day as being a very smooth engine. Think of it as a sporting man’s Silver Shadow, but with slightly worse fuel bills!

I’d second that book. It really is a great read for motoring enthusiast.

Also some great write ups of several cars but mainly Bentleys. The author owned the first Continental nicknamed Olga. My copy is up in the loft - I must get it down and read it again.

Lovely-looking thing, and something of a bargain too? I keep promising myself that I need to put "owning an XJ" on my bucket list, and this would fit the bill beautifully.
Definite bargain potential if you can find a good one. I got mine for £6K, which is ridiculous really.

Can you turn over the page so we can read the bad news!

Lovely car BTW, reminds me of my uncles one, although his was a shed. He was a dreadful driver!

So that's where they disappeared to! Hopefully more will appear for sale in good time.

Beautiful car. A rolling gentleman’s club.

That V12 is such a magnificent engine. I’ve only ever experienced it once (in an XJ-S) and still remember the turbine smooth, effortless thrust. It also surprised me how willing it was to rev. One of the all time great engines, IMO.

A fantastic car!

I had a '71 Daimler Series 1 XJ6 for a while, the ride quality was incredible when you consider the age of the car. Always fancied a V12 so will be watching this with interest.

Please keep us updated.

Ooooh yes! I love that!

Jaguar should put these back into production with modern tech. I suspect the reason they don't is that they would make the modern cars look bad!

Any chance of some more engine bay pics? Does it run carbs, or fuel injection? At 11mpg I'm guessing carbs?

It’s a fuel injected one. One of the first, I suspect? Don’t have any more of my own shots of the engine bay, but will see what I can dig out from the auction photos. Cheers!
