Looking forward to reading about this.
Will you still need a HGV licence to drive it after it is converted and registered as camper van?
Yes. Would have done my test by now if not for Covid. Probably going to do C+E because if I ever want to tow a trailer I'd need that. Positive side is because PHGV (see below) I don't need CPC.
Cost of lessons + test is £1231 (plus £27 for the theory and hazard perception cos I'm old and never done them biggrin)

Plus, DVSA toughened up on campers and it's almost, if not actually impossible, to register as Campervan. Needs to register as PHGV.
This is going to be great. I assume you are aware that before you can take your C+E class 1 artic test you must first pass your C class 2 ridgid test. Good luck with both tests.

Was I the only one expecting a MG SV?

Are you planning for the appocolypse?
Nope I was too.

Enacting a plan because the apocalypse has happened more likely.

This is awesome, can't wait to see how it turns out.

Will it be a self build or professional job?

Excellent! And it’s nice that you’ve already had someone who works on these pop up with advice. Looking forward to the build and the round the world story.

Love it. Would love to take one of these out in the snow just to potter about and watch everyone else struggle. Might just be eating a pasty, driving with one hand, in my pants, all at the same time. Just for sts and giggles. Bring on the apocalypse.

My ultimate lottery win car is a unicat, I spend too long drooling over their trucks.....

Good luck, hope it all goes well 😁

Quite tail happy unloaded which was made worse by the armoured cab upgrade that put loads of weight over the front with no mods to the suspension.

Once a year I'd take the clevis pins out of the brake actuators and coat in anti seize compound. When difficult to remove id use a g clamp and an assortment of sockets to press them out.

Expected Lamborghini, found better smile

I've seen European (usually Dutch or German) folk turn up to GPs with this sort of thing.

A man after my own heart; I would love to do something similar although I'd lean more towards using a mid-50s ScienicCruiser

That said you might get places that I wouldn't be able to! Good luck with it OP - hope it all works out.

Apologies for the confusion, I couldn't link to the FB pages of the trucks with the videos in, so had to do it separately.

One the inspirational roads where I'm looking to drive: LINK TO VIDEO HERE Cab View Wakhan Corridor Road

Another view, of a different truck: LINK TO VIDEO HERE Wakhan Corridor from Drone
