Many thanks, I love blue with a light leather interior, looks really classy! Great weather today for drop top, not too hot to burn but warm enough to enjoy wind in hair.

So today has been amazing, the weather perfect for enjoying top down motoring and getting to know the car a lot better.

Frustratingly having pulled the battery and then the under seat connections to remove the seats I now have an airbag light illuminated which I will need to have cleared and system reset.

The car is incredible, the noise from the exhaust is growing on me, maybe still a shade too loud but going to give it a bit more time.

Some parcels arrived today, again a bit of a mixed bag sadly. Firstly the armrest tray arrived from Park Lane BMW, this replaces the ageing Nokia phone cradle I removed during cleaning, simple mod but makes armrest much more useful.

Secondly I ordered some genuine E9x M3 gloss black performance grills, sadly the seller didn’t advise they were LCi items so they don’t fit!!!!!

Will have to re-advertise these CORRECTLY and find some pre-LCi items.

Fitted my personal plate today as the V5 arrived, so did this online and fitted them this evening, looks much more familiar now.

Shame about the grills but driving it on a day like today was sublime, definitely a good decision to buy I think.

How easy is it to remove that phone cradle and what did you do with the wiring loom that connected to it?

Really straightforward took all of 2 minutes, used this tutorial on YouTube. It connects into the loom adjacent to the handbrake so popped the plugs and it lifted straight out.

Two nice Beemers!

Can I ask, where did you get the trim removal kit from you mentioned,

And, how did you make a profit on an RRS??!

Thanks for your comments, a very tolerant wife! Lol!

Trim removal kit is amazing, £7 purchase from eBay -

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221976855293

The profit on the RRS was luck, it was a fully loaded low mileage 2010 plate that the owner was p/exing against a brand new one. He put an advert up on an owners forum for £500 more than p/ex price, preferring it to stay in the ownership ‘community’ than go to trade. I snapped it up and then resold at retail so hence there was money in it - right place right time!

Looks good; love the fox red leather. It’s amazing how much crud gets caught under seats over time. Totally agree about getting shot of the chrome.

How loud is the start up - any vids? My uncle had an E90 M3 which I liked but always thought that it needed a touch more noise. I tried to persuade him to just get the backbox fiddled with by PCW but he never did.

Thanks - it’s a good combo for sure, never a massive fan of grey but with the red it lifts it.

Indeed I do have a little video -

Hopefully the chrome will vanish this week so watch this space.....

Yeah, that is quite loud! Taken a tad too far. There’s a happy medium between releasing a bit more noise and drama and it being too much. I think I’d want to tone that down a touch too.

I really like the way that sounds. smokin

I personally appreciate loud exhausts(having a TVR with a sports exhaust spoilt me), but I can appreciate why others may find them annoying. The only time I thought that my E92 M3(standard) sounded good was on its cold start, it was too muted for the rest of the time for me in the Coupe.

However the standard exhaust on the E93 M3 still sounds nice(loud enough) though roof down I reckon though(my BIL has one).

Nice car Si. I am glad that you are dechroming, it has a whiff of SE spec about it hehe

I think the exhaust sounds great personally, but maybe the 1.5 pipe mod may work better? The interior has come up well and it is nice to see something that isn't just black leather.

I proper dropped myself in it years ago when I said to my sister that I'd just seen a E93 M3 with this horrible chrome trim around its windows...only for her to tell me that theirs had the same chrome around the windows!! getmecoatbiglaugh

I'm definitely a fan of dechroming for sure. thumbup

Si - does that model have any kind of electronic sound enhancement inside the cabin - i've read conflicting info on my e89 that it does/doesn't... wondered if thats something they did around that time..

wouldn't have thought they needed to in that M3 though!

Yup, agree with that.

Chrome window trims aren’t great.

It’ll look lovely with gloss black.

Yes I think opening it back up and exposing a few more holes should remedy it. It sounds lovely when driving but a little to loud for me and cold start is BAD! Lol!

Thanks bud, indeed stock it is quite mute so a 1.5/1.75 I reckon should be about right particularly when you take into account the lack of roof.

Yes it’s exactly that, the shadowline trim improves the look SO much so that’s what I am aiming for with the gloss wrap hopefully. Considered removing the chrome and sourcing the shadowline but it’s pretty scarce and removal doesn’t seem particularly straightforward.

No ‘soundaktors’ here bud just pure V8 noise coming in, think the F80/F82/F83 was the first generation of pumped in noise.

The natural induction noise in a E9x M3 is a wonderful noise I reckon. It was the best car I've had regarding induction noise for sure, really addictive. cloud9
