I intend to keep it for a couple of more years then replace it with something from Renault or Dacia.
One touch window module, now that does sound interesting.

For those who have purchased pre-reg cars, when does the time sequence start? For example, if they are early serviced, does that year start from car registration or when purchased? I'm curious in the interest of keeping the warranty.
Not picking on you in particular, but to people really think the service interval time on a used car starts from when they pick up the keys rather than the date of registration?

I think it's more that the pre reg cars only had 10 miles on their clocks so really the same as any other new car sat in the back lot.

Although I don't own a Duster I do have a 65 plate Logan MCV with the very same 3 cylinder engine, purchased when 6 months old with 3600 miles on, initially ran as a family car, but two years into ownership had it licensed as a taxi to replace my C4 Picasso.

Mileage is now just under 150k car has been utterly reliable, oil change at every 10k, plugs at every 40k plus the usual air and pollen filters, everything still works but I have made some mods such as repositioning the stop start switch, fitting a one touch window module.

What is the comfort like on the Logan? Prefer an estate to an SUV, and looks like the TCe was available a few years earlier in them too so can pick them up for less.

I do one 80 mile round trip a week now, on uninspiring roads, will continue to do so after this is all over and frankly the ride on my Giulietta is getting on my tits. Wife has an A250 AMG I can pinch if I fancy going for a blast (assuming I can prise the keys from her vice like grip), so the ‘everything you need and nothing you don’t’ simplicity of a Dacia is really starting to appeal.

Mines the Laureate spec so has a few extras, the drivers seat was a bit firm but is now suitsbly worn to be comfortable in my mind at least and hard wearing, I usually spend 10 to 12 hours in and out during a working day, ride wise, well you can tell its based on an older model design rolls a bit on corners and a little light at the front due to lack of weight, traction control a bit too sensitive as well. rear seat space is adequate for 3 and the boot is perfect for the job.

Still on original clutch, it does suffer from clutch judder when cold but if you Google that its a very common issue as is the wiper motor failing and the indicator stalk causes issues, engine at idle is a little rough but it pulls really well even when fully loaded on Rhuallt Hill on the A55 for those that know it.

Welcome to the cult Mark-t, sounds like you've snapped up another bargain.

My understanding was it start from date of registration but let us know if your dealer says anything different. What spec did you go for?
Thanks all. A bargain indeed.
Two 'free' services included but I'll also be servicing myself when the warranty expires.

It's an essential in white. I prefer the desert orange colour but it would've been more money which defeats the point for me.

I think we are calling it UN white and Essential trim is Romanian Rolls Royce spec. Welcome to the “ throbbers”. My bi fuel made a series of bleeps today to tell me the LPG was all used up. I was only 5 mins from a station so they filled it up at £0.50 per litre. Just over 33 so £16.68. What I found interesting was it wouldn’t take 38 litres but maybe the young lad who fuels for you just stops it when it slows down? Today’s saving £24.00 Rock and Roll!

The other option of course is the Logan Stepway, best of both worlds, estate body with high lift body.

I knew it would happen while the Steppy was being serviced. Step away from the salesman.

I have for the moment, but Mrs reaction was 'oh that's nice', hesitation is it is bi-fuel have no interest in LPG, and would rather have the space for the spare wheel.

Seriously got to sit down and do Pros/Cons over the Stepway.

Biggest issue with bi fuel is now resolved as you couldn’t take an lpg vehicle on the channel tunnel. Now there is no point as you can’t drive it back full of booze

Our Dacia experience is also with a Logan rather than a Duster but is a positive one nonetheless. We have an October 2016 registered Logan MCV Laureate with the 1.5dCi. Bought at 33k miles in May 2018 and is now up to around 115k. The intention is to keep it until it dies. I ran it for a year and it saw the French Riviera and took a few friends and I for a 3 week tour of Europe that was a big loop down to Albania and back up through Italy as well as a couple of ski trips without complaint. The suspension seemed set up well to deal with the roads in Albania and copes admirably with the roads in rural Norfolk. These days my dad runs it as a daily.

As another poster suggested, clutch judder is common and ours has done it since we've had it. It's needed a light/indicator stalk as it caused the lights to pack up and an aux belt tensioner after dad recently took it through a flood.

It let me down once, on a ski trip in France, when a pipe on the differential pressure sensor for the DPF melted through causing it to go into limp mode on the Autoroute in deepest darkest France in the middle of the night - this was when I found out the "European Assistance" promised by the salesman as part of Dacia Assistance was only valid for the UK but we limped to a dealer and it was fixed the same day under warranty. This was an achievement in itself in France as this was the week between Christmas and New Years' and everything was shut - we owe a lot to a hotel owner who knew the mechanics! Common fault according to the French Renault dealer if the pipe is routed incorrectly. In hindsight, it was probably preventable as it did smell of burning a little bit for a few days before the ski trip but I figured it was just a re-gen and ignored it - lesson learnt there!

As the French mechanics noted, Dacia are fantastic with the use of simple old Renault parts bin parts as on the rare occasion something goes wrong its usually widely available, especially in France, and a simple fix.

If going for the 999cc, is the 100Tce engine the only option?
Dacia website says only the Prestige model gets the 90Tce, which seems strange.

Also, the 100 is 5 speed, the 90 appears to be 6 speed?

I think the tce100 is used in the duster and the Sandero uses the 90. 2021 Sandero gets a 6 speed box. (not sure about every variant)

I can confirm frequent cog swapping required on the tce100 duster. driving if you follow the advice of the little gear change indicator it'll have you labouring the engine too.

Often best to disable or cover those annoying things with insulation tape.

In time I'll ignore it. As I do my mpg swingometer in the merc.
