So...the Tuscan failed to proceed this morning!

Cranked over, engine fired, reversed five feet and it died. Wouldn't start again. Painful.

Str8Six told me that I've probably flooded the engine. On a cold day like today I should start it with a bit of revs and then let it idle for a few mins before setting off. Now I know...

Leaving it for a bit before trying again. Going for a walk rather than a drive...

Hope it was just that. If it isn’t, at least you bought from str8six and they’ll get it sorted.

Yes, got it started, took it for a half hour trip round London 5o show my better half. Running well. Really need to sort the rattling perspex over the gauges and also a squeaking/rattling roof/rear window.

I also managed to collect a stone chip to the window and two or three small stone chips to the bonnet:-o how did the last guy keep it so clean?! Wondering if I should invest in some form of protection ...

Agreed on the doors and windows - do fix themselves. My boot wouldn’t open the other day after a while standing. Turned out it was because the passenger door wasn’t working either. Locking and unlocking seemed to work the passenger door worked and then so did the boot. Silly Tuscans.

Always start the car with a fraction of throttle applied gently, otherwise you’ll find it very difficult to get the engine to catch. If you blip the throttle you’ll no doubt flood it if it’s just started or if it’s trying to fire. Then you’ve got quite a long wait.

The rear windows always squeak, you can apply anti-rattle tape to the edges of the window, or just grease the rubbers regularly. The back window effectively just sits on top of the seal so you’ll struggle to completely eliminate it.

So, I had the car out each of the last three days. Still grin like a Cheshire cat on every journey. It is truly brilliant on quick smooth roads. I did take it on a bumpy b road today and honestly could probably have traversed it more quickly in a 1.0l Micra. That is not its natural habitat.

The attention it gets is ridiculous. Came back today to a dude with his DSLR having a fully blown photo shoot. Had a good chat with the guy, who was a bit of a Lotus aficionado. There was a guy in a Z4 yesterday who rolled his window down for a listen but clearly didn't want to give me the satisfaction of looking. Don't worry mate I can catch your side eyes biglaugh definitely not a car for the reserved types! Children are the funniest they have no qualms about pointing and staring. Watched one kid exclaim "rainbow car rainbow car!" To his mother very excitedly. Great fun.

Took my better half out a few times. First time I drove it quite gingerly and she rated it an 8/10. Next time I gave it full throttle in second and she screamed a lot and told me she was never getting in it again ... it is bloody quick! And it feels quicker than its going because it squeaks and rattles a lot and is LOUD inside. Going to try to fix the squeaking roof and rattling gauge cluster perspex.

One annoying thing that happened was I managed to chip the corner of the rear perspex screen. It mustn't have been seated properly and got caught by the hinge. Very annoying.

Gave it a good wash today. Clearly has some sort of coating on it as dirt doesn't stick to it. Few pictures...

Dan Taylor's likely your closest TVR specialist: https://www.taylortvr.co.uk/

I don't think he does bodywork, but as the saying goes, he'll know someone who will.

He's a good guy - recommended.

What an incredible car!! Very jealous, I remember seeing one of these in an Alfa showroom strangely when I was quite young, my parents came home with a Focus though unfortunately. It was a strange dealership!

That damage is so easily avoidable, it's like that window cleaner has never moved a hose before? Made it look so difficult. At least he is paying - Get the money out of him sooner rather than later!!

Having owned a Tuscan I would recommend keeping with you - a spare master fuse and a spare throttle cable.

If you have the spares there will be no problem, if you don't one of them will fail

Also, if you have the plastic rear window clips, get some metal ones, collecting the rear screen from ditches and hedges gets old quickly

Getting a few miles under its belt. God I love this car.

It did not enjoy this dirt road. Exhaust took quite the hit from an outrageously sized speed bump.

Trip to Aldi. Rated how much space this bloke gave me. Not sure if he was giving me space or himself.

Fitting a new head unit. Someone had been at the wires previously so my rear speakers are not working. Need to splice the wires in. Something I've not done before but how hard can it be...

Learned a new skill today, auto electrics. Amazingly, it works!

Good to have some Bluetooth and a phone mount for navigation. Good little solution this stereo. Hoping to go out with the roof down for the first time today, weather is lovely...

So was looking through my paperwork and noticed an oddity. The owners booklet suggests my car came from the factory with 380bhp. However I understood that 4l mk1s had 360hp and only the red rose had 380bhp. Surely if mine were a red rose str8six would have known and advertised it as such. Not that it really matters given it has since been rebuilt and who knows how much power it is putting out but an interesting tidbit!

TVR power figures & pinch of salt go hand-in-hand as well as what spec was actually built vs the spec the 1st owner bought. A lot of 4.2 Ceberas were actually 4.5's but badged and sold at the lower price. Red Rose, S and all that just muddied the waters when the parts bin was getting low.

Your Tuscan looks fabulous! A question; will the roof and rear screen fit in the boot when off the car?

Both fit in the (massive) boot on a tuscan. In fact its better than that as the roof sits on the top of the inside of the boot, so you don't really lose any internal boot space when stowed smile

Yes they do. its a clever design the screen takes up very little space. The roof slide on top of the boot. So under the roof there is still plenty of boot space.

Ref bhp figure they could be anywhere from 350 to 400 depends how the engine was rebuilt. To be honest you wouldn't notice the difference in the real world as the car is so light and the engine is manic.
Lovely car PR.

As noted the roof and screen do fit in but the roof is a bit of a wiggle to get in, its tight. Concerned I'll damage it!

The roof fit on mine isn't great it's a bit high on one side and low on the other and flexes in the middle. Accordingly it squeaks / rattles quite a bit, very noticeable with the screen out !
