All these teams returning / entering, hopefully it could be a return to the glory days of the Group C era.

One of the best 90 minutes of racing I ever saw was a WSC event, late '80s, at Donington. The Jags and the Mercs, and a lone Aston diced wheel to wheel from the flag. It was awe inspiring. Every lap there was something to excite. Shame it was a 6-hour race. The Jags went out or suffered problems and the Mercs cruised to victory.

I saw a WSC event at Brands a year before or after, and the two Mercs collided at Clearways fairly early on. I remember it for two reasons: the lesser was that it ruined the race, the greater was that I was chatting to a Merc fan next to us in the stand, and I was saying that the two Mercs should give each other space as if one hit trouble . . . Oh my god, they've collided!

I'm only infrequently right about racing, but then I was spot on.

Sports car racing goes through phases. The Porsche years at Le Mans killed the event for me, but things improve, then go back a little, and then come on. The new regs might, just might, beat the odds and produce exciting racing at the front. The pack has generally been fascinating.

Is Ferrari thinking that the budget cuts in F1 will give them some to invest in sports cars? The hyper cars look to give the closest racing. We can hope.

Also with gte looking like its going to be dumped in favour of gt3 the factory Ferrari gte team will no longer be needed so i suspect the team running that will be used to run the hyper car win win for Ferrari. Wonder if ford will come back.
