Dream car stuff for me. Had a C5 Allroad and 2.8 and they were built like tanks (hate the phrase, but it works!). There's something about the understated menace of this shape RS6, and the woofly-to-raucous exhaust note, in Avant form particularly, that gives me a right private moment. Love the colour too! Enjoy, keep us posted on your progress as it is an itch I will absolutely scratch once I am mentally stable (or the direct opposite) enough.

Ah right I always thought the black trim was a + feature but never looked into it fully. Cheers.
I see yours is Mugello, as was my last one. Nice. I wanted an F.O. colour this time!

Very nice, these were on my shopping list when I eventually bought a V8 Touareg.

A touch old for a daily that I'd need to be reliable. I think these will appreciate though, the V10 variant that followed is going to be a nightmare to maintain into old age and they don't look as good to my eye.

Yes! Lovely job. Back in the day I had a C5, then on to a B7 RS4 Estate. Enjoy!

I used to work at Audi and have been in a few of these, always had a soft spot for them and they are absolute animals. Perfect do it all car, go shopping, put bikes in the back then if you want you can pretty much abuse anybody off the lights

I know two people who had these, one from nearly new and another a few years later.

It broke both of them.

But I still think they are the high water mark of fast estates.

Love it. An epic car in every way.

Yes - I know I am in for a rough ride but it’s only a toy. I’ve done about 200 miles in it and can confirm that it likes a drink...

What can I add a few weeks in?

The belts need doing so I’d like to combine that with brake fluid, auto box oil, water pump, coolant and a general look around underneath. As much as I would like to take it to Unit 20 I’m very time poor. So the aim would be to take it to RPM Kessington in Bearsden and take it from there. There are some loose heat shields and some rusty ARBs. It drives like a dream and although it’s not perfect it’s pretty good. I’ve enjoyed 3rd gear flappy paddle mode which is good for overtaking anything anywhere and I’m glad to have set a sensible speed limit on the buzzer. I had my last one up to some quite fun speeds but in the intervening 6 years it’s just not worth the risk. So I am enjoying mostly legal speeds and loving the sound of the non-res Milltek at 4K rpm. I’m sure there are big bills round the corner but it will be worth it. And Misano red is the best colour! I need to get those wheels back to silver though…

Lovely car OP, , will look fantastic once you return the wheels to Silver.
Its always nice when you see something relatively rare on the roads, commands a nod of approval from those in the know. I always have a good look at one that lives on a friends road, seems to be a long term owner has been there for years so i take all the stories with a pinch of salt.

Glad to hear it’s treating you well OP. It looks really well in red. Silver wheels would set it off nicely.

As others have said that would look great with the wheels refurbished in silver or gunmetal grey.

Any shots of the interior?

Yes - it’s pretty tidy although it’s suffering from Audi button rash and could do with some new stickers. Otherwise not bad…

Bit of a footnote. When I had the blue one most people didn’t know what it was, which was great in many ways. With the red one - and with almost none of them around any more - I get people pulling over to let me past; I get waved out of junctions; and I get waves from other interesting cars. It’s a joy to own. My other car is a 20 year older Defender and it’s the same too in terms of people being nice and other Defender owners waving. Long may it last!

A minor update but one which has pleased me - I've had the wheels re-done in RS6 Plus Titan Grey to replace what my teenagers respectfully call 'Community Pharmacist Black'. I think it's made an enormous difference and as the rest of the car has been optioned in Plus spec, i.e., largely de-chromed, I thought I would complete the look.

Done at We Restore Alloys in Stirling, who seem to have done a great job which took three days:

Before

After

After

All I need to do know is find someone who will change the belts and flush the gearbox. After much searching I think Unit 20 might be on the cards so a trip south is in the planning stages.
