Bought a couple of months ago, ridiculously cheap, 3.0 S-Type, 53 plate, 78,000 on the clock, full dealer history. Drives like new, the engine is sooo sweet, perfect sports auto box. Much nicer and faster than my old 52 plate E39 BMW 530 Sport and sounds a hell of a lot better!

Love it! I used to get these as company cars. Great choice.

I understand they can rust a bit.

Interesting you say it's faster then your E39 530i as all the data seems to suggest otherwise. Nice car the Jag but I can't help feeling it's a little under wheeled.

I had an X202 3.0 for years. Loved it. Great chassis too.

Indeed I get the same comments about the wheels, even the tyre fitter opinioned that it had the wrong sized wheels and tyres.

But lower spec models, the 16inch wheels are indeed correct.

As for looks, personally I'm not a wheel man, so as long as they are round I'm happy...

It definitely rides best on smaller wheels and higher side walls. It was good on the 18" wheels I had and 45 profiles but one gets used to hard, jarring rides and forget how good small wheels are.

I've been reminded again with the XJ-S how nice smaller wheels and bigger tyres are. I'm more go than show.

Lovely car
I used to have one
It was just the best when it came to long journeys. Quiet smooth and comfortable.

Unfortunately I had to recently scrap mine, MOT failure due to rust and uneconomical to repair.

An armchair of a car for wafting in.

That's looks well looked after and low mileage aswell

Your correct about the stats but honestly this it the sweetest S Type I've driven, plus the gearbox and kickdown are much better than than the E39.

It is under wheeled, 16's, but where I live in Lincolnshire the roads are chronic and the ride is so good I'm loath to change!

Exactly, I was one button push away from a set of 18's from evilbay but changed my mind. I'm 52 now and prefer my comfort.

Two owners, Pakistani father and son, doctors. Must have been just them using it though, interior is perfect, back seats never been sat in, even the leather still smells good!

I think I might eventually change the style of wheel but keep it to 16's, I only do 30 miles a week anyway!

Insured for £250 a year plus 6p a mile.

Agreed. That was my reaction too.

Probably means that the E39 was a bit tired.
