160 round my way!

It’s a shame that Quentin Wilson has gone all electric, he was quite good at fighting to get these things sorted out.

That must have been "interesting" to drive pre-alignment ..

It looks to be running way too much rake (front too low) but I can't remember whether lowering the front of a 996 increases toe in or increases toe out, but judging by where the front toe was pre-alignment, I'd suggest it's the latter.

On the basis of that image I'd be thinking about raising the front suspension at least 10mm ... smile

I'm no racing driver but I could detect it felt a bit weird going on and off the throttle mid bend. I even started thinking I need to be more gentle with the throttle to smooth out the transition from off to on the throttle. It felt better if I was smoother with my inputs so I thought I am peeling back the layers of its character. But now I know it was just all over the place.

Not sure how rake affects the car but I can hazard a guess. If I put my hands together in a praying like position but separated slightly wider at the bottom to simulate the front wheels with some negative camber and then I rotate the whole thing fingers away from me or fingers towards me to pretend the rake is going lower at the front or higher then I get a crude idea. Therefore I'd guess more rake gives more toe in and less rake more toe out. Join me in prayer and see if you agree.

Rear Seats now removed.

I only removed the lower mount from each seat belt. How do I remove the belts completely. Do I need to remove the rear side trim panels?

It feels like there is also a bolt holding them in to the pillar coming down form the roof. That will be another trim panel also right?
Only just seen this. Yeah, both panels have to come off. Top one to get to the loop that the seatbelt runs through and the large side one to get at the belt reel and bracket. The large one has pretty strong clips which stood up to removal, whereas the top ones are small and flatten out leaving it a bit loose. Part no. for the small clips is 99950747901, they're 94p each from OPC, I bought 10, needed 7.

Weight of Reels, brackets and lower seat belt receiver is 2.5Kg. It all helps.

Ah thank you! That explains why I saw it the other week parked on the side of the road near to where I live (I'm about five miles from Ashgoods).

It sold on CC in August 2020 for 38K plus fees. More than your usual 996 CSR, but I guess there's a "C4S" premium, and it has fewer miles than most.

I had a good look the other day, and it does seem in nice condition.

Feels like a high price for a 3.6 without an engine rebuild but then I’m unsure of pricing of a regular manual 4S with low miles. It may not be much of a premium?
