Before getting this Merc, I already owned a red car with some similarities but also very different.

Similar:
Approx the same age: 1990 vs 1991
The bright red colour
4-speed manual
4 cilinders
Petrol

But other than that, very different cars!

I have had this one for 7 years now, having owned a couple before. Really great handling cars and lots of fun every time you go for a drive.

No pics of both together, so first some older pics:

It is 1990 Mini 1000, completely standard. It is a special, which maybe was only a version for the Dutch market. It is not to be confused with the older specials with 1100 engines.

Having these 2 cars it seems like I really have a thing for bright red cars which isn’t the case. I picked up this mini as it was a bargain back then and I didn’t mind which colour it would be. As for the 190E, I did like it for its red colour which is really cool for a Mercedes imho.

Will take some pics soon of both together.

My mini did meet up with some red friends some time ago:

The first mini I had was also a 1 liter. I really loved it. Together with my dad I put MG Metro seats in it.
The end of ownership of this car was tragic, I will write and post pics about it some other time.

Original seats:

And with the MG Metro seats in, a great improvement:

Exactly 40 years ago today, on December 7th, 1982, 1200 units of the new Mercedes-Benz compact class (W201) started from the Sindelfingen plant on a rally to German
distributors and company-owned outlets.

Getting to know the Mercedes is really nice.
I found out it still has the original first aid kit in the back.
The used by date was in 1996 smile

Have not had any cassets in my hands for years.
They do fit the 190E:

The greatest hits one has Fleetwood Mac, Sade and A-ha among others and the Jabba Dabba Dance one has hits by Scooter and E-rotic biggrin

What a difference with what’s so popular these days. A nice small sedan vs a modern SUV..

Still loving the colour on the 190, but also like how it turned up in this monochrome edit:

Took both cars out for a spin today and parked them next to eachother.

Almost the same colour, right?

Found the Merc with a flat after I went for a drive.
Luckily a local garage had time to fix this.
Up early to get it sorted and the sunrise was nice:

Lovely car OP (it’s a 190!). Here’s a fellow 190E driver wishing you a happy New Year.

I do love a W201 - the more basic the better - this is mine, a 1988 2.0 E with very low miles and 1st owner from new until 2019.

That looks lovely in white. Excellent pics, thanks.

Was the flat repaired or replaced OP?

The flat was repaired, only very small damage. Tires are all fairly new.

Really enjoy just cruising around with this car. Every time I go for a drive I take a longer route than first intended as I just want to keep on driving this car.
