Lovely car OP (it’s a 190!). Here’s a fellow 190E driver wishing you a happy New Year.
Happy new year to you too! Which colour and engine do you have?
Thank you. I have a 2.5-16 in Almandine.

Today I changed the crappy standard speakers that were crackling for some Pioneers. Sound is okay now, although not great of course with only these 2 10cm’s on top of the dash.
For me it’s okay as it is not my daily car, so I am pleased with the result.

Also checked the oil and coolant levels and a quick clean under the bonnet. Weather was great for it:

This design really does it for me.

A friendly guy from our neighborhood saw me working on the car and we had a nice chat. He used to own a diesel version some time ago. He now has an Audi A2, but would love to be in a 190 again smile

That one huge wiper is amazing, right?

Yes, a fantastic piece of engineering with the cam-drive so it dipped in the middle of the screen - I used to love watching it do that!

The mini puts a smile on your face every time you go for a drive. It handles so great and you really feel in touch with the road.

I really enjoy posts where people show their car history with stories and pics, so will also share some myself.
My first car I bought in 2003, so already 20 years ago.
It was a Golf mk2 1.6 from 1991, so it was 12 years old at that time.
Really loved this car and the freedom it gave! I took it to Spain and did so without any issues. My dad was also impressed by the Golf mk2 and we convinced my sister and her boyfriend to get one as well!

I still have some pics (below) and the original registration plate is hanging in the garage now.

Car history continued:
I got my first job and it came with a company car! There was no choice in car though, all juniors had to drive a Corsa. However, coming from a 16 year old car to a new car was quite a change!

I got my first Mini as well around the time I had the Corsa.
Here it is behind it:

All was good and I had a lot of fun with it. I polished it back to some shine it used to have probably a long time before:

After owning it for a about a year, one of the worst things happened for a petrol head. The car parked next to the mini was set on fire and cars went up in flames!
I found these pics later on a local news site:

Was very sad to see the car like this:

And the inside, where the comfy MG Metro seats once provided joy:

Not sure if people are following my thread, but I will continue here anyway. It’s a nice trip down memory lane for me. Although not so happy memories with my first mini above.

Anyway, I bought the below one quite near to me and had this for about a year:

The mini I had needed a lot of work and I sold it on.
My next car I bought as they were quite rare and this was close to where I was working on a work project.

A nice classic radio smile

I repainted all the wheels myself, which was a nice project in the summer.

My dad borrowed the Metro once for a classic car tour and it was surrounded by Austin Healey’s and Triumph TR6’s. The Metro stood out from that line up wink

It was nice to have for some time, but I missed how a mini drove and also the mini looks. So after some time I also sold it on and it has been scrapped a few years later.

I don’t think there is much love here for a Metro, so I better get on with the next car I had, soon smile

They weren't a bad car I believe? Too young to have ever had one - the Golf 2 however... biggrin

This is a lovely looking Mercedes - the red looks superb on it and it is in really good condition. It is a pleasure to see. The Mini looks good too.

The Mini Metro was a good car in its day which drove really well. They're judged unfairly harshly these days as are many BL cars, I think. They lack the looks, charm and image of the Mini, but that was a very hard car to follow.
