Mercedes 190E (W201) 1991 Signal Red and 1990 Classic Mini

Today I changed the crappy standard speakers that were crackling for some Pioneers. Sound is okay now, although not great of course with only these 2 10cm’s on top of the dash.
For me it’s okay as it is not my daily car, so I am pleased with the result.
Also checked the oil and coolant levels and a quick clean under the bonnet. Weather was great for it:

I really enjoy posts where people show their car history with stories and pics, so will also share some myself.
My first car I bought in 2003, so already 20 years ago.
It was a Golf mk2 1.6 from 1991, so it was 12 years old at that time.
Really loved this car and the freedom it gave! I took it to Spain and did so without any issues. My dad was also impressed by the Golf mk2 and we convinced my sister and her boyfriend to get one as well!
I still have some pics (below) and the original registration plate is hanging in the garage now.

Superb article! Thanks for sharing!I got my first Mini as well around the time I had the Corsa.
Here it is behind it:
All was good and I had a lot of fun with it. I polished it back to some shine it used to have probably a long time before:
After owning it for a about a year, one of the worst things happened for a petrol head. The car parked next to the mini was set on fire and cars went up in flames!
I found these pics later on a local news site:

The mini I had needed a lot of work and I sold it on.
My next car I bought as they were quite rare and this was close to where I was working on a work project.
A nice classic radio
I repainted all the wheels myself, which was a nice project in the summer.
My dad borrowed the Metro once for a classic car tour and it was surrounded by Austin Healey’s and Triumph TR6’s. The Metro stood out from that line up
It was nice to have for some time, but I missed how a mini drove and also the mini looks. So after some time I also sold it on and it has been scrapped a few years later.

This is a lovely looking Mercedes - the red looks superb on it and it is in really good condition. It is a pleasure to see. The Mini looks good too.
The Mini Metro was a good car in its day which drove really well. They're judged unfairly harshly these days as are many BL cars, I think. They lack the looks, charm and image of the Mini, but that was a very hard car to follow.
