Renault 5 Prima Campus Restomod Project
Discussion
My first car was a Renault 5 - handled like a boat (despite being tiny) and was genuinely scary at speeds over 70mph! But it had charm
I then owned MANY Volvo 480's and always wished I had kept it (despite the rust) and dropped one of my spare 1.7 turbo engines in it.
Good luck with the project

Following with interest.....should be cool. Please dont go GAZ unless a track only special, they'll undoubtably be wrong for the road....unless you drive on smooth tarmac all the time i'd keep a degree of ride height and compliance so the car can track the road surface (not bounce off it) and maintain some grip/feel.....it is French afterall!

The consensus against the GAZ option grows... the car will be used on track and sunday morning blasts mainly but open to alternatives... what do people recommend as alternatives?
I guess find a local specialist who does car preparation ( and who can corner weight it ) and take their advice? As long as you get that in general whats good for the road isnt necessarily good for track and vice versa you'll need to work out an acceptable compromise.

Thanks! I have already ordered inner sills, sills and front bumper mounting points from them. Just waiting for them to quote on inner wings, headlight panel and GT Turbo rear axle at the moment. Already proving usefulA small and boring update... but the sills and front bumper mounts have now arrived. Will be keeping them boxed for now for ease of storage and to avoid damaging anything.
There probably won't be any meaningful updates in terms of work on the car for another week or so as I am travelling for work a lot at the moment. In the meantime I still need to secure some front wings and inner wing panels...

Gaz are and always have been donkey st. What is your budget for suspension?
No budget in mind particularly, more just wanting to do the project well so not wedded to GAZ or other lower cost options. Just curious as to what the readily available alternatives are in the UK as all I am seeing are the GAZ or AVO setups here and the AVO appears to be even worse...jhubs139 said:
