Any recommendations for shops with a decent range of helmets & clothing around the Birmingham/Worcester area?
I know of J&S but it’s there anything else worth a look?

Biker's World, just off the m42 near Coleshill.

Cmc on the A5 at Cannock, plus Donington not too far away.

Probably not as big as other places mentioned but I’ll throw in a shout for my local bike shop, Motorcycle Mart in Kidderminster, motorbikes4all in Malvern also might be worth a look.

Sportsbike shop are way ahead of the others in my opinion.

The website stock check and order for next day for trial at store alone but the staff are great too. Better prices than J&S for pretty much everything.

That said Bikers Paradise in Coventry are closing so selling all their stuff off, might be worth a look. They've been making their own leather clothing for decades and it's supposed to be decent stuff, not to my taste generally but might be to yours.

Worth remembering with Sportsbike shop that the satellite shops don’t hold a full range stock. But. They actively encourage you to order stuff on line to collect the nearest shop and then you can try everything and if you don’t want it, it goes back to the main warehouse.

Thanks all. Some useful reminders and a selection of interesting new shops I didn’t know about.

Spotsbike Shop are very good, but it's a bit of a faff - find a load of things and then wait for them to come down and then try them on or find out you don't like them and then pick 1 item from the 10 they've bought out for you! I'd prefer just to have them on a rail and can quickly try one on in seconds, but it must work for the shop. God knows how, mind, another bloke in there had got them to bring down about 10 different jackets, and all except 1 were then put away afterwards. Seemed very labour intensive.

J+S and Bikersworld both also worth a visit.

I happened to be near Maximo Moto at the weekend so called in. Plenty of no-name textile jackets and trousers at decent prices, but not much choice and variety, and only a handful of real helmets, plus a few tiny little pisspot things that wouldn’t protect anything.

Anyone remember House of Helmets (great name I always thought) on Broad Street?

J&S has moved from digbeth to kingsheath in the last year or so. It’s now really big and pretty well stocked. I think sportsbike shop is brilliant on-line but the shop isn’t great (though they will get items into the shop for you).

Motorcycle Mart are a great place, they'll price match other shops and really nice to deal with

I do remember that place , long long time ago.
Not been to J+S since it's move to kings heath, but was ok when it was at the edge of the city center.
Maxi moto I've been too, as said it does not stock main branded goods .
Coleshill store is ok, though not that big.

I think sports bike stores main attraction is it's online ordering and return policy, rather than it's actual stores, so not visited those as yet for a look.

Agreed - I've been to the MK store and was surprised how little (that I wanted) was in stock

Although the staff were helpful and friendly, I was trying on helmets, no pressure to buy, to the extent I sent in a positive email to HQ

I've since ordered loads of stuff to my house and then sent the majority of it back - all seamless

A bit further on than Birmingham, especially if you're the Worcester side, but Moto Central in Hinkley is pretty good. Quite a nice ride over that way if you pick the right route too smile

Bikers Paradise is not closing anymore, myself and 2 others are buying it. Complete stock revamp - so old stock going cheap. New retro stock in production at the moment. New website end of May when we officially take over.
Keeping all the staff, just hired another machinist for repairs and alterations.

Ps im a customer who didn't want to see it close.
We have big plans
Cheers

Good luck with the venture. How much of the old stock is left to shift?

Hi there, thank yoiu.

We've split stock into A and B stock.

A we're keeping, B is clearance not to be continued. There is a lot of B stock all half price, but main sizes are disappearing. The current website lists everything, the B stock clearance is a bargain - basically it all needs to be gone, its not ours when we take over.

The first of the new stock will be ready in a couple of weeks, and production will hopefully keep up with demand.

If you need anything specific let me know if i can help.

Please come and visit us, we're buying a decent coffee machine because we are bikers and want to have as many as possible come and visit even if just for a chat. Next year we're buying a closed down pub for a biker meeting place if trading goes to plan.

Cheers
