So many years ago (back in 2009!!) my dad got an E92 M3, and, mainly because of that engine, I fell in love with it. When he sold it at the very end of 2012 I was gutted, a car I really missed. Today, I bought my own (admittedly, a saloon, and DCT rather than a manual).

Driving it back was a dream and I look forward spending more time driving it. I will get it booked in with my usual garage for a general check over in the next couple of weeks. It hasn't had the rod bearings done so it's booked in for mid-April, although someone has alluded to the fact that 2011 cars and onwards aren't effected.....?

Anyway, a few rubbish pics!

Seems to drive really well, engine pulls very, very well and gets to naughty speeds very, very quickly. Gearbox is really good too. I was torn whether to go manual or DCT but I do not regret going DCT now.

Fantastic buy & car biggrin

I was sorely tempted by one of these before I bought the F31 touring...

I wanted a more practical car TBH; but the E90 M3 is a lovely car and that engine is simply sublime thumbup

The best I would say. A facelift saloon is the best E90 M3.

Once my E91 330i goes, I think I’m going to have one of these. DCT or manual, doesn’t bother me.

Yes, dealer took it in part exchange. £5k. I was fairly happy with that to ensure a fast sale.

Welcome to the club! Enjoy biggrin

Ps we're definitely meeting up to see what's better - manual or DCT driving

Simply wonderful, I love the colour. Enjoy!

Sometimes I wonder if I should have bought an M car instead of buying the model below and fitting bunch of E9x parts to it!

Going through the history a bit more.....it will need a few minor jobs soon too (will be done within the next 2 weeks or so) - I can't see evidence for spark plugs for quite a long time and 55k miles, they may have been done sooner, but I can't be sure, so I'll get these done. The engine runs sweet and economy seems perfectly reasonable, but it's worth doing.

OSR integral link has a very slight amount of play apparently, so I will get both sides done.

Front tyres are at 5+mm but the rears are down to 3-3.5mm, and being Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, and it being fairly cold and wet and me not being a hero, I also want these done too.

What tyres are you thinking of replacing the Cups with?

Pilot Sport 4, or if they aren't available then 4S.

Much prefer the E90 over the E92, congrats.

This is the era where I wish wish wish they made an estate!

Yes I agree, an estate would be a wonderful thing. The engine in this car is utterly fantastic, something we will never see again frown

Camskill have the 4S at the best prices I have seen so far.

They also have PSS still if you want to go original.

There is a specific garage I use, because friends/benefits wink

I gather the PS4 is a longer lasting tyre than the PS4S?

I've been really happy with the Pilot Sport 4 on the 370Z, but from what I read the 4S are even better. The Pilot Super Sport are pretty good on the M4 once they are warm, but they do turn the car into a death trap when they are cold though! hehe

I'd imagine those Cup 2's to be the ultimate ditch finder in the cold weather!! biggrin I bet they are absolutely mint in the warm weather though.

Interestingly, Falkens are a lot cheaper than the equivalent Michelin/Goodyear/Continental and seem to get good reviews. The man from M539 Restorations YouTube channel runs them on his cars and thinks they're good too. For the price difference I might give them a try.

Your new car looks fabulous, many congratulations on the purchase!

I'm sure you'll miss a few certain aspects of the Lexus. However, I imagine that every time you get in your M3 and fire it up, it will be an occasion, even if you're just going for milk.
