Backing up what we've all said elsewhere, looking great!

On the tyres front, when you come to replace the fronts the PS5 is available in the right size, but not the 265/35 for the rear. You could fit the PSS front and rear, or go for a slightly wider rear (275/35) and go PS5 at both ends.

Or PS4 rear and PS5 front?
Can only see PS4S or PSS for the rears in 265. Your tyre gurus might be able to find them of course smile

4 weeks after (so 5.5 weeks from now) will be rod bearings and engine mounts. That's too much for them to sort out so it's going to my indy.

If driven all year and used as a daily, I would go for PS4/PS5 or equivalents like the Goodyear Asymmetric 5/6.

If weekend car then PS4S or equivalent.

Very light weekend and track then obviously PS2.

Looks cracking Ross.

On the tyres front - I've just recently gone with PS5 onthe rear of my E91, and they seem pretty good so far. I had GY F1 Assym (can't remember what gen) on before (and still do ont he front) and I don't rate them tbh, despite being a fan of them in the past. They're just too soft in the sidewall imo, and so they take the edge off a little when pressing on. I actually preferred the Vredestein Sessanats I had before to the GYs.

Reading online there isn't seemingly a huge difference between PS4 and PS4S. I've asked my guy for PS4 for the rear but PS4S if he can't get PS4. Fronts have 4.5-5mm left (they don't come with much more than that new!) so these will not need doing for some time yet but I'll see what's available at the time.

Personally I wouldn't mix HP and UHP tyres.. The PS4S are definitely a step up on the PS4.

OK so if he can get PS4 on the rears I'll try for the same on the fronts if they do PS4 in 235/35/R19

Goodyear Assy 6 and Conti 7 are well worth a look! GY Assy 5's suit my E46 nicely.

I been impressed with the Asymmetric 5’s on my 335i and the 6’s on her 125i.

I think the PS4 is a bit better in the wet, but other than that I don’t think there is much between them. According to Tyre Reviews the Asymmetric 5 and 6 both had stiff sidewalls than the PS4.

I don't believe that for a second having had PS3 and now PS5 and the F1s inbetween. The Goodyears are noticeably softer imo.

FWIW I wouldn't put MPSS on any car I wanted to use between November and April!

My Z4M had them fitted when I got it and they behaved like ditchfinders in single degree temperatures on damp roads!

Sort of fun now and again, but not confidence inspiring.

Agree completely Mr Tidy. They are a really weird tyre for me, because they are pretty decent when they are warm and in high temperatures, whereas they are completely garbage when they are cold and in cold temperatures though for me.

I personally prefer the MPS4 that I have on the 370Z in comparison, however that doesn't really have the torque to upset the balance of the car like the M4 does though.

Very good. I'd like one of these! A lot of my commute involves being stuck in stationary traffic, so the stop/start would come in handy.

It definitely won't be getting PSS tyres. Will be PS4 I'm almost certain, if they're available in 265/35R19. If not it'll be PS4S.

Did you ever consider going for one with the EDC on it Ross? I really liked it on mine, but my BIL doesn't have it on his and that still rides lovely anyway. I guess that there is more to go wrong with cars that have it as well, so that is also a bonus if you haven’t got it.

I specifically sort a car without it. To sort EDC is approx £1k/corner, whereas non-EDC can be done for 1/2 that with Bilstein units, or a shade more for OEM BMW stuff. I think the standard set up is perfectly fine for road use. My dad's had EDC and always thought the sportiest setting was too firm for road use.

Yes Ross and I've read what you say here a few times as well. Completely agree with you about the sportiest setting too, and I never used that either(I tried it once and I didn't like it).

I really think the standard car is fine. It has been many years since I drove an EDC equipped car so I can't remember whether the "comfort" setting was better than the standard set up for just mooching about - possibly. I've just come from a Lexus LS460 so it definitely feels way more uncomfortable than that but I've been in other cars which don't handle anywhere near as well as the M3 yet ride worse. I think the standard car is very well judged for what is a sporty road car, that is also designed to be fine as a daily driver.

Having driven a manual and also DCT, I do not regret going DCT, despite being a "manual man" for "fun cars". I think the DCT works really, really well.

Same. I've been miles too harsh/critical about the DCT over the years I reckon. However now I've lived with the DCT in the M4 for 2 years I think that it is a brilliant gearbox, and I'm a big fan of it for sure.
