Added premade flared repair panels off something else? Clever.
I'm going to guess at Escort Mk2 because there's some in the background in the pics.

Nope, panels are all standard. I’d like the exterior to be largely standard. Shiney and chromed with a few of the fussy details removed, but otherwise the same shape.

I like this. A lot. thumbup

What are your plans for the interior? Keep it stock, a swanky leather retrim, or racy with bucket seats an' all?

It’ll have a cage for rigidity and roll over protection but that’ll be worked into the body to be as subtle as possible. But no rear seats.

Front will get new seats of some sort. I’ve got a couple
From an Alfa GTV which might do the trick.

I’m after plush rather than race. We haven’t really got as far as the mood board for that though :-). Do have a thing for quilted leather but that may be a step too far.

Regarding seats, I hear nothing but good things about BF Torino.

That was an amusing discovery. I thought the car was quite solid until it was stripped.
Story of my life right there as a serial MX5 owner.

What colour do you have planned for the exterior?

Black with gold pinstripes for that JPS style reminiscence? wink

Still pondering colour. Have some ideas, but not quite committed yet.

I have one of those engines - in my 59 plate XC90 - which is pretty rare as most were around 2006/2007 I think.
I remember seeing the crate engines on ebay, and considered buying one as a spare, but failures are unheard of so it would have been overkill, and I don't really have anywhere to store it anyway.
Great project OP smile

wavey Welcome back.
I remember you buying this (we were C1 racing at the time I think) - interested to see what you end up with, I've always fancied doing a restomod.
