I am also an Englishman married to a Nordic girl, in my case I live in Seinäjoki, Finland. I admire your lifelong adventurous spirit and you are clearly a man who knows how to take a chance on life. Thank you for sharing your car history and letting us in on the fun!I'm also an englishman living in Scandinavia, Arvika not far from the Norwegian border

While at a more humble level, I share your love for aircraft also, I was trained as an aircraft engineer by the RN and am still fascinated.
Best wishes to you and your family!

it has to be said that O/P is rapidly becoming one of the most interesting posters on PH - some fascinating stuff
at first the posting style and wordplay reminded me of frank, but a bit of a google reveals roger has led a very interesting life indeed! deffo some interesting potential from this thread, the lebanon dc-3 story is the kind of thing that usually ends up adopted for film!OK, I'm gonna be the first to call it. OP is a fantasist and was a library assistant from Droitwich married to a short fat dinnerlady called Brenda. In the 70s, he had a beige Allegro. Never had an airline, but they went to Benidorm in 1975.
Go on OP, admit it, I'm right

Thoroughly enjoying this Roger. Please continue. People can choose whether to read or not.
I would be particularly interested to hear what the ownership experience of cars like the Espada was like; were they always back at the garage being repaired or out of tune?
Have you considered writing a book or autobiography?

Very interesting Roger. We have had a house in Ozankoy for over 30 years - at the bottom of the track from Bellapais down to Ozankoy. But over 30 years that track has become a road and now has some very expensive houses at the Bellapais end. We always walk up to Bellapais at least once and my wife was sat under the tree of idleness just last week.
We also lived in Beirut for 5 years a place I visit regularly, most recently in February. It's not what it was unfortunately.
That's where the similarities end however. I have never even sat in a Lamborghini but have always loved the Espada.

Thank you for giving us this fascinating insight into a wonderful life most of us would have loved to have lived. What treasure must be hidden away in the photo albums of people of a certain age.....thanks for taking the time to share. You should get them scanned properly for posterity. Maybe even a little book like Mr Hipperson?
Its occasional threads like this which remind me why communities like Pistonheads are so great. I could read them forever. In my humble opinion though a thread as special as this should be in the Lamborghini or Classics section rather than buried away with people's generally mundane Reader's Cars
