Car looks awesome! great stuff biggrin

excuse my ignorance, but is there a current supplier for the fury/phoenix?

the rights seemed to have shifted around between various people/companies for ages now... but your kit is obviously current..

where should I be looking?

Hi there and thanks for the compliment. Our kit is in fact based on a 2004 (I think) chassis. It lay around going rusty until we got hold of it. We've spent the best part of three years getting to this stage, albeit with several lengthy lay-offs, due mainly to my ill-health. It is round tube up to the rear bulkhead then square tube at the back, apart from the extra tubes we have added. It was a spare chassis been held by Stuart Taylor Motorsport for Tim Gray, the multiple RGB Champion. It's also Tim's old bodywork. I think these interim chassis were made by Fibreform in Hull IIRC. The later full round tube chassis were produced by Caged.
I believe the rights to the Phoenix are now held by Caged. Cyanacars also make a similar looking kit, having secured the rights to the Striker MK4 design from STM IIRC.
BGH Geartech now own the rights to the Fury.
To be honest I could be wrong about who owns what as they change hands on a daily basis, or so it seems!!

Geoff.

Hi Geoff, you might remember me(Rick).
I bought the yellow blade engined Fury off you a couple of years back and tarted it up a bit.
I had a blast with it.
Did a few track days with it and not much was quicker.
My dads face the first time he drove at Oulton Park! Until then he didn't understand what I had bought.
I will always remember he couldn't believe a 900cc car could waste Porsches revving past 11,000rpm!
Had to let it go in the end as I ended up with too many cars!
Anyway that Pheonix looks the biz hope to bump into you & Eldon soon with it at a trackday.

Im using a fantastic 45 year old 2.6 Triumph Vitesse race car now - that's another story...

Good luck finishing it, the last jobs always take ages eh? - it's always the last mile that seems to be the longest isn't it?
All the best guys - and stay healthy Geoff.

Hi Rick! I've done a bit of "tarting up" on the Phoenix today, mainly around the front end to hide the crash damage that the bodywork sustained during it's previous life as an RGB championship winner.
Roundels are on, together with the little aeroscreen and a carbon sunvisor. Mirrors are SPA. PH stickers should be here next week.
I've posted the Fury pic for old times sake.

Hi again. The car is now suitably "stickered up" and ready for it's first outing, hopefully next weekend, weather permitting.
After doing a little research regarding ACB10 tyres we have set the car up with seemingly very little negative camber, 1 degree or so front and rear, and 3mm toe in at front and rear. Pressures will be 18psi all round to start with.
All four shocks are set to middle positions for bump and rebound.
The anti roll bars are set to softest setting and may even be disconnected if it's wet.
There will be little chance to get anything like proper temp into the tyres given the likely weather scenario but it's only a shakedown session anyway.
We'll be happy to get a useful number of laps in and find out what needs further attention or what falls off!
The car literally hasn't turned a wheel so anything could go wrong. Clutch slip, gear selection probs, brake balance probs..etc..
I'll post a full report next week.
Geoff and Eldon.

beautiful work, look forward to seeing the finished article.

It'll almost be a shame to use it (and get it dirty)!
Well we certainly got it dirty today! The car had a shakedown session at Blyton in Lincolnshire. Very dirty, gravel all over, potholes everywhere.. you get the picture. It was wet early on and never really dried out properly.
The car was fine apart from too much understeer, the result of an overly strong front anti roll bar, and a long pedal on the brakes which required an extra pump on the pedal. We bled the brakes again to little avail but the problem seemed a little better when the brake bias was put to full front. This suggests to me that the problem might be at the rear. It could be the pads are being pushed back between applications. Or the fluid could be siphoning back. We will investigate further and may fit a residual pressure valve. The brakes are OK once they arrive.
The car goes like rocket through the gears and the paddle shift was fine.
Apart from the aforementioned nothing fell off or broke. I'm amazed!

Finally! After yet another delay the car has been properly baptised!!
Venue..Teeside Autodrome.
Apart from initial problems with understeer the day went well. Frequent light showers through the morning but getting drier through the day.
The Teeside track is not too wide in places but suits our type of car perfectly with a fair selection of corners.
Overall we were very impressed with the venue, good facilities and well managed. The resident ARDS Instructor, Tim Arnold, was impressed with the car after some fast lappery and gave us some useful feedback.
The car is very quick through the gears and our previous brake problems have disappeared since we tightened up the rear hubs properly!
The car will be alignment checked before going out again and a new rear fuel pump fitted. This was the only thing that failed today. We got round it by frequent top-ups to the auxiliary tank at the front. This small tank contains the original Blade injection pump. We could still do seven or eight laps at a time.
Next on the agenda is a totally gratuitous and probably un-necessary aero package consisting of composite front splitter and rear diffuser!
Hopefully the next outing will be a dry one so we can try out the slicks.
Geoff & Eldon.
