So updates

Both the driver and passenger doorcards are on, i need to take the passenger doorcard off again at some point to tighten up something i missed as it has a rattle

Then i have worked a bit on the boot, removed the epicentre (bass restoration device) from the rear of the wall and moved it to the side, also mounted the eqx to the other side as well as mounting the small AS Twister amp i bought for the apillars

from what i can see all the cabling will reach its new locations with no real issue and if i shift the sub amp down a bit more i will have space for both sub amps on the wall

So the next things to do so i can mark the front end as done are

-Replace missing grub scews from distribution block so i can hook the small amp up
-Re-route the cabling
-Cable up the small amp
-Tweaking and tuning the EQX (its a active crossover and equaliser)
-Remount the passenger door so it does not rattle

So todays work was to fit the new headunit.

In order to fit the unit i needed someware else to mount my Voltmeter and epicentre controller so i set to work making a new trim panel, this is going where the cig lighter and ashtray goes usually

so cut some 6mm MDF to shape and roughly cut the hole for the cup holder

cut the mounting holes for the voltmeter and epicentre dial, the epicentre dial was especially hard as it is a potentiaometer so i had to sand bits of the MDF away a small amount at a time until i got it thin enough for the nut to screw onto the potentiometer on the other side

Now trimming, trimmed it in the same blue as the door insets

Now pull the old headunit and voltmeter out - Cable geddon

Now i did not get any shots of this point but i pulled up the fake wood trim around the gearstick so i could run the cables below it

Headunit in and playing

and a shot of the headunit and console trim

Some of trimming i have done is not brilliant but hey thats the joy of playing with cars, even if the job is not perfect you can look at it and say i made that

This thread is old enough that all three of you knew that this is his thing, and quite clearly not your things.

Yet, all three of you felt compelled to wade in with assorted snide comments.

Good work.

Wind your neck in. I have met Sam and this is a friendly remark. I did not need to include a smiley for your benefit.

Yeah, I could tell that from your post, it was really obvious and not at all like the usual snide remarks from people who don't like what someone is doing.

sorry, i forgot I wasnt allowed to voice my opinion unless it was something good to say. he might realise what hes doing is a bit of a waste of money and might thank me for my words.

either way, its not really you're concern

To put the boot on the other foot, it isn't really your concern how the OP spends his money wink

It's patently fking obvious that this is the guy's passion, just look at the amount of time and effort he's putting into it. For you and others like you to wade in just to spout stty comments is utterly pointless, particularly when you already know that it's not to your taste.

So no, I highly doubt he'll come to his senses and thank you for your pearls of wisdom.

People don`t put their cars on here just to have hot air blown up their arse, they know they wont be in for a 100% smooth ride.

They have to take the rough with the smooth as do you the "saviour" on his high horse.

I asked a perfectly valid question if you don`t like it then that is your prerogative and I couldn`t care less just as the OP probably couldn`t care less.

Let's break this down so that it is easy to understand.

1) It is outstandingly obvious that doing this is the OP's passion.

2) It is also outstandingly obvious that it is NOT what you are into, you don't *get* it - and that's cool.

3) What isn't cool, and is completely pointless, is for you to then wade in and ask "Have you not decided this is all a bad idea yet?"

Get it? This isn't about blowing smoke up someone's arse, it's about being both logical and decent.

It's almost like you can't grasp the concept that someone likes stuff that <gasp> you don't! How very dare he.

Yes, go on, you tell him. That'll learn him yes

Its almost like you can`t grasp the concept that this is an open forum and as such people can say what they want whether you like it or not.

I never insulted the OP and that is when it goes too far and would warrant a knight in shining armour or better yet a mod with authority to wade in but negative comments are part of the parcel especially on a project such as this.

If you went around PH pointing out every negative comment made towards someones thread then you would be a very busy man and also a very sad one.

Its an open thread and what positive or negative things people say in it has nothing to do with you, so stop trying to police it.

It's fk all to do with me being a knight in shining armour, and I do agree that I'd be forever stuck in front of a keyboard if I was to pick up on all such comments on PH - it's full of those who think their opinion is the only one that counts - how else do you explain the arrogance of your comment in relation to this thread?

As for it being an open forum, yes it is but that has sod all to do with the points I made in my post above. If you can't grasp the concept of what I'm saying, I'm not going to waste my time any more explaining the logic to you.

The posts above irked me and I've said what I wanted to say.
