Nothing useful to add Mark other than I've followed all of your threads and this by far is my favourite!

Could I ask a favour please? Looked but couldn't see, you referred somewhere to a solution that brings bolts / nuts back up really good but I can't find it, I don't suppose you can remember the name off hand do you?
I use brick cleaner/acid to strip rust from parts and it does a good job, but its not ideal for nuts and bolts because they will need a protective coating re-applying and most paint is too thick to use on threaded areas.

Frost sell a home plating kit which is good if you have the patience. Once the parts are re-plated I tend to spray a coat of zinc primer on the exterior for added protection.

I have a set of these wheels in 16 inch with their original period Pirelli P5000 Vizzola 195 45 16 tyres on if anyone is interested. I dont know what car they came from. I had them on a Sierra XR4x4 Turbo Technics in 1995-ish. Complete with their Centre Caps. Got a few pics handy but wont post them here.

Edited to add I think they are 7 inch from a Mondeo but got stage fright now declaring this to the entire thread without proof...

Spotted on FB. Tyres are 195/45 R16... not sure if that’s 7J?

I assume you mean the colour... and not me posting and giving false hopes of an update?

I know the 7Js are like rocking horse poo, so hopefully it’s the colour you’re angry about!

I like the "I saw this and thought of you" premise. I'm sure it wasn't a malicious attempt to lull us into thinking there was an update. hehe

Haha.

Thanks for the heads up on those wheels. They do look like the 7J version (thicker spokes).

Hi, I know this is a long shot. But do you have any more information on the brembo 2 pot rear conversion you carried out on your fiesta project back in 2011?

I am looking to run a set of brembo 2 pots on the rear of my 4x100 platform VW Vento. If you could point me in the right direction as to how I might go about this that would be great.

Thanks

Braking update.

Slight change of plan. I'm no longer going to use the 304x25 MGTF front discs, instead I have located some slightly larger 325x25 two-piece AP Racing discs. They were spares kept by a rally team and protocol for these is to get them up to temperature once so they are ready for immediate use, so they are effectively new.

I also had the MG logo milled from the AP calipers. I will paint these in AP Grey and apply the standard yellow AP Racing decals (that's not rust on the shell in the background, it's wax).

I haven't had prior experience of a quality two-piece disc and the difference in weight was a real surprise to me, it is incredible! Both front 325mm discs and bells weigh less than the standard 240mm Fiesta discs. The AP calipers also weigh less than the original cast iron single piston calipers.

New rear brakes: Brembo two piston calipers and the MG 304mm discs. I'm considering ordering a two piece disc for the rear although this isn't an immediate priority at the moment.

I got hold of a set of Mk6 Fiesta ST150 front hubs as on initial inspection the strut diameter and drive shaft size/spline are identical to the Mk3, but will enable me to use the later type ABS. I just need to check what changed in terms of alignment: I want to maintain the Mk3 steering geometry as it gives decent feel.

They were two piston rear calipers from an Evo. I don't have any more information because in the end I went with some AP Racing formula calipers.

Apologies for the re-bump.

Think they're identical to the 350Z rear calipers. Same as these:

The post should be locked until the op chooses to update it.

It will stop the above and 100's of people clicking thinking it's had an update.
