Brake caliper refurb.....
Discussion
A few years ago I had my brake calipers re-powder coated by a friendly guy on here who used to own a 993 gt2...... Anyway, they came back full of grit so then had to be rebuilt and now they look as though they've been used as a sacrificial anode on a boat hull.
Where's the best place to buy a new set of 4 or can anyone actually recommend someone who really knows what they're doing?
TIA
Alan

B&P Blastings in Newington Industrial Estate are about to do mine. They do all my powder coating/grit blasting and are top quality. Also very cheap.
I wouldn't get them blasted unless you're going to rebuild them afterwards. It killed the seals and the calipers were actually full of grit aceparts said:

Mine are going to be rebuilt anyway as I've got it all apart. But on calipers they block and cover everything up and don't use grit. They use hot vapour and don't direct the jets into anywhere that could cause aggro! The coating Porsche use is average at best once it's aged a little so is removed pretty easily. I can recommend these people: http://www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk/
my advice - dont fk around with paint - get them stripped/serviced/coated all at the same time - its cheap enough.
The Brembo's on my Ducati are the pukka monobloc race items (bloody gorgeous piece of billet engineering) @ £1200+++ EACH and for Brembo UK to fully break em down and service them with new seals etc is only £28 a side!!!

Found these guys recently.
- not affiliated & not used them, so would be interested to hear any feedback from others...
For which I still profusely apologise for. I had my calipers rebuilt by Brembo for the SSE. Then had them blasted by a different guy and told him to make sure that all the holes where blocked etc. The outcome was yes you guessed it calipers where contaminated with the media used. Sent back to Brembo for another clean out and new seals.
Where I to do it again I would strip calipers. Acid strip old coating. Pre treat and powder coat making sure that the mating surfaces for bolts etc are masked off and then send to Brembo to be rebuilt. It is the only way. Once again sorry Alan

They are very good at refurbishing the calipers. Just received mine back. Although they were not from pork... And I would recommend the Bigg Red. Sorry for bringing up an old topic
Just to blow some life into this thread. I have a tatty set of Brembo's I needed to send off for refurbishment.
Called Big Red and phone just rang, called them again and was told I would be contacted later. No one contacted me.
Called Brake Caliper Specialists and phone just rang. Filled in on line form and received mail back saying I would be contacted that same day. No one contacted me.
Called Godspeed, phone was answered, as were my (probably dumb) questions and a price given.
Although I thought I was being clever calling around all the specialists first, really only Godspeed gave me much confidence I would ever see my brakes again! So am using them. Will post again with results.
