Just had my renewal through due 23/1 gone up by £70 for no reason.
Will have to do the ring round again.
Comparison sites are useless for Porsche insurance.

Does anyone know why Direct Line rate Targas so much higher than Coupes and Cabriolets? For example, online quotes with identical information:
4S COUPE (06-08) £275.60
4S TARGA (06-08) £390.08
4S CABRIO (06-08) £275.60
I can't beleive the Cabrio is rated identically to the Coupe but the Targa is over 40% more expensive!
Any suggestions?

Just bought my first Porsche (2006 997 C4S) and was dreading the insurance, however it's costing me less than my 3.0 Audi A6.
Tried several but best by far was Admiral multi car.
I pay £360 for the Porsche and £220 for the wife's Beetle. Bringing the cost down is that I'm 49 and live in the sticks, however I only have 1 years NCB after living overseas for a few years.

Admiral multi-car policy
06 Cayman S - £202 - garaged - social & commuting 5k miles a year
58 Mercedes C220 CDi Sport Estate £251 - on driveway - business use 5k miles a year
living in Notts, me 49 full NCB & no points. Wife 51 with 2 speeding tickets.
Bargain considering my previous company - Liverpool Victoria - wanted more for just the Porsche.
£500 excess. Includes legal cover, hire car, windscreen, 60 days European cover etc etc

Lying in bed with Norovirus was the ideal time to kill 4 hours chasing insurance. All the price comparison sites, all the well known names and all the specialists mentioned at the start of this trail but glad to announce a RESULT!!
Car Porsche Cayenne S Petrol
Me 35yrs old, company car driver for last 6 years, 3 points, 3 claims in last 5 years, 1 non-fault, 2 bird/stationary object "fault claims". Not squeaky clean.
Wife 32 yrs old, company car driver for 1 year, Kiwi, no claims or points. Miss Goody2shoes (except for a load of parking fines)
Bridle £1800, Mayfair £1600, Tesco £2000, Best from price comparison sites £1000 with £3000 excess
And the winner...Admiral £719 plus £750 Excess inc European etc etc
Worth the time and proof that there is absolutely no shortcut to getting a deal. Price comparison sites just give you a benchmark and where to avoid. good luck

Admiral have just thrown a strop about renewing the 911 on their multicar policy (silly renewal quote) so I've just got a quote from Porsche insurance for a 997.2 C2S - £380. That's about rate competitive with other quotes but does rather usefully include 2 track days (obviously, as long as you let them know in advance). That makes them pretty good in my book…
Irrespective of which company you use, it is advisable to confirm that you have the option of taking your prize Pork to a repairer OF YOUR CHOICE WITHOUT PENALTY, i.e a OPC, otherwise you will be forced upon an "under the arches" setup using spurious parts in the event of a claim.
