Any other recommendations for insurers which provide good windscreen cover? Interested to compare a few that will cover installation of an OEM screen.

just thought I would post about my recent experience to give some idea about insurance. I am 27yrs old, and about to collect a new Cayman GTS. I have 0 NCD as I never had a policy in my name. I have no points on my license, live in London and the car will be used for social only, and kept in a secure underground garage. From comparison websites, the best price i was getting was about £1050. Admiral gave me a call today, and managed to get this down to £640 with 2 named drivers. Fantastic price in my opinion considering my zero NCD!

Another recommendation for Manning from me. They just covered cosher Porsche glass and fitter of my choice (Glasstec) at over £900 total cost. Cost to me was £100 excess (vs £60 if i'd gone Autoglass/National non-OEM glass).

They include unlimited track day cover (tho' 10% claims excess applies), and agreed value.

In this instance I'd say you do get what you pay for...

Been on for quotes for new CGTS today, tried Locktons but wouldn't cover due to lack of experience in performance car... Anyone else had this issue (with this or other companies?). Told me they might be able to help next year, told them I wouldn't be bothering calling them! Almost as bad as a few years back when performance direct wouldn't cover a new (to me) car as it had a roll cage, but would have done if I'd owned it for a year.

Feeling grumpy.

My insurance is due in a few days gents...

May I ask how long insurance companies have been carrying out 'credit checks' as part of the quote as it leaves a footprint on your credit history!!!

Do they all do it now?

Renewal price with A-Plan is ok but no trackday cover which Adrian Flux provide for virtually same price

Is that just when you pay via instalments, as it's actually a loan? Or are you paying the full amount?

And generally... what about claims history? It's all very well getting a cheap policy, but will they pay out?

I always pay in full, ended up using a recommended company from here a got a good deal on the renewal so I'm pretty pleased.

Just started shopping around...

Classicline - can't help as only cover up to 7,500 miles a year.

Locktons - can't help as only cover up to 10,000 miles a year.

Ok, I get the idea...

Back to "normal" insurers then...

Renewed with Saga. £367 15k miles, 10yrs NCD.
Queried Porsche windscreen glass and their glass company said I'd need to request a "dealer part" and it could take longer to obtain.
Still have my doubts whether SAGA would authorise this.

Just thought I'd add to this thread...

Am taking delivery of a 14 plate 991 C4S next week so needed to sound out insurers. One of the 'best' quotes (cheapest) was Admiral @ c£780. The car is used regularly and sometimes for work, parked on drive (in SW London), although I do have full 20+yrs NCB, no convictions other than a 3 pointer / fixed fine for speeding 33 months ago.

Although price was good, I'm concerned with such a new car about issues with invalidating warranty if I claim and they refuse approved parts / repairers etc. Also, with a car of this value, I wanted some comfort on valuation price reflecting what I've paid for it, not some ultra low arbitrary figure issued by the insurance companies.

Based on the above concerns I thought I'd ring round a few specialist brokers to see what might be on offer. Some seemed to be geared only towards weekend cars, used for track days etc and wanted ridiculous £££s when they allowed for business use & 5k-6k miles pa. I was expecting to draw a blank but then called Lockton. They do gear up for occasional use and track days however thought they might be able to help as my mileage wasn't that great. In the end they came back with what I thought was a v good price - £1100 pa, £500 excess. This puts the replacement value of my car at the price I've paid for it (dealer's invoice needed to provide proof of value) and all repairs at a garage of my choice along with approved Porsche parts, legal cover, UK & European breakdown cover & 90 days Euro driving cover also.

Whilst this is clearly a big jump from the £780, I'm happy with the additional comfort of agreed value and Porsche parts etc costing me c£300 on top.

Appreciate not everyone will agree this is good value or justified (we all approach things differently eh?!) however for those of you like myself that take a more cautious view, I thought this might be of use! (And for what it's worth I'm a tight git that doesn't like to spend money unless I have to on these things ;-)

bought a 996 c2 recently, called up some specialist insurers (Adrian Flux, Sky, Classicline)- quotes ranged from £460 to £820 for 3k miles/year fully comp with mods declared.

Aviva, my current insurer, came through with <£400 with 6k/year, mods declared. Car parked on a driveway. 6 years ncb no funnies on license.

2008 - 997 agreed value of 26K. Fully comp for 6 months of year then fire theft only for the other six as it will be off road. Always garaged and never used for work etc only shows and the odd weekend out. 3000 miles limited and the cheapest i can get is £1100 through Brindle.

Im 48 and never had a bump. Ive been using company vehicle since 18 and they will only take in one years no claim. They even had the cheek to ask if I was used to a powerful car. I had a GT turbo Renault at 18 cheaper.

Looks like im not getting one now as I refuse to be held to randsom by insurance companies.

Another one for Manning. It took a little while to get there but they have covered my GT4, with track coverage for Porsche GB events and also for my 2 day course with PEC at Silverstone for £830.

They were also honest and said I am better going else where for the Macan GTS as they wont be as competitive.

James Munroe on 07976 175585 at NFU is the man to speak to, saved me a few quid on insuring a 991.2 gts

+1 Admiral Multi-car policy

Added a 2003 C4S to my existing policy (40+, central London) - about £600 compared to £800 from AIB for separate insurance and needing to be garaged

I don't understand what they like about me, I'm only 38 and I don't have a garage (just a drive) but I have just been offered insurance on a 997tt for £300.

I didn't take it, I sucked up Admirals profit taking upon changing cars because I'm near the end of my policy (and there's an exit fee) so am paying the equivalent of more like £500, but £300 is what I have paid on my Carrera the last two years too.

Surprised Hastings aren't on the list on the first page.

Another vote for NFU.

Just had a quote from them for my soon to arrive Targa GTS which was 2/3rds the price of the next lowest quote.

And their policy includes either a new car or full invoice cost if your vehicle is written off in the first 2 years. To my mind that saves another few hundred on GAP insurance.

My new 991.2 GTS is due in about 6 weeks, so I've started to ask for insurance quotes.

Can I ask if most insurers insist on the tracker being activated? This costs £235 per year I understand so is a considerable expense. Just wondering as my present insurer (Aviva) does, plus the compulsory excess is £1500.

I will be asking Carbon, Locktons and NFU when I get to within 30 days as that is how long the quotes are valid for (Aviva is 60 days).

I rang Adrian Flux, was told by the advisor she had never insured a car worth so much (£119k) and it would be a minimum of £1500 with an excess of 10% of the cars value! They won't be getting my business.
