That car is being sold with an established user with a feedback in the 600s. The other 996 (reached £19,600 and there don't seem to be any retracted bids listed) with the rebuilt engine was listed by a user with zero feedback. That alone will out many bidders off, rightly or wrongly.
I must have had ny wires crossed when I saw the bidding at 20000 with 5 minutes to go. I must have been looking at the second c4s which sold and thinking it was the Unique car.

Also cat d so a bit strong price wise. I'm not sure if the tan leather works with the cream. Could be a picture thing. Has anyone seen cream before? Is it a Porsche colour or some form of PTS special ordering?

A bit of Googling threw up a few specimens and even this which looks like it has cream wheels too - like.

I think if I even get my 996 repainted I've chosen the new colour right here.

That Brown/Brown 987 is really, really nice.

While we are on the subject of interesting colour combos - what about an early aero kit 996...?

with

Someone obviously spent a lot of money on the orginal spec, and i quite like it!

Not sure if it’s my screen or my eyes but I’d need a snorkel at the very least with that interior..

So i’m popping down to see this one tomorrow

Made 5300 & didn’t hit reserve on the auction

Seller is after 6500

Seems fair-ish

Anything to be watched out for with these - might just get trigger happy!

Xenons make the 9x6 so much more usable imo. Looks smart. Not sure I'm a huge fan of the grey hood with silver though.

Simple enough to dye a grey roof black.

Sounds ambitious given the mileage and zero spec. I’d expect it to be mechanically perfect for 6500.

5500 sounds about right to me for that.

I agree, I didn't buy a mates 55 plate 987 last year for £7500 that was near mint, extra wheels and hard top with just over 50k miles on it.

To be fair, a dealer bought it in the end and paid £8k for it.

Prices at the moment seem well solid.

lol that's epic cheapskatery!

What did the dealer put it up for? £10k at least I reckon.

Hardtop on a 987. I didn't know they exist.

Well - i just bought this one!

Thanks for the heads up & will let you know how it goes.

Most surprising was how low the insurance was - were it not for my points, would have been less than a couple of hundred quid! (Must be getting old now.... every cloud & all that 😉)

Bracing for more on the running costs - my first lesson in porsche ownership -

“There is no such thing as a cheap porsche”

Kinda ironic in this thread hehe

Well done that man

We all start out thinking these Porsches will be cheap and it works that way for a bit. I hope there are no nasty surprises round the corner. Enjoy it while you can.

Well done.

I was shocked as well when I bought my 987 and the insurance came in lower than my Merc and the Mrs Audi.

Younger ones are now buying them though so the Insurer's crash stats might change.
Compared to some cars, they are actually harder for lads to crash though unless they turn traction off.

£9500 I think he said. Paul French bought it.

Will have sold the hardtop and wheels separately I guess?

I never used the hardtop, don't think he even got it out of the cover.

I did wonder afterwards if it was one of the ones that give you the Cayman look.

I didn't buy it at the time as I had no use for a 2 seater, not a massive fan of the roadsters and have no where to put a third car.

Hindsight, however is a wonderful thing, I am now thinking I would quite like a 987 and there is no way I will get anything close to that. laugh

That was called the z something top from memory wasn’t it? Zenntop? They were manufactured in South Africa, the company that made them was notoriously flakey, and they did t fit without modification/ adjustments. It was nearly £2k landed & painted but I do think it looks pretty good for what it is and certainly a million times better than the monstrosity Porsche manufactured

My 986 Boxster was cheaper to insure than my everyday Suzuki Swift 1.3 (?!) which I found surprising. When I transferred cover to the Boxster in the Spring, it was £6 to change. There should have actually been a £9 refund but there was a £15 'admin' fee. Considering I did it all all online for them I'm unsure how it cost them any "admin" at all. The documents aren't posted to you, they have to be downloaded and printed off if I want them.

I didn't realise the 987 had traction control. My 986 2.7 doesn't even have a LSD.

Present company excepted, obviously.

Don't think any 986 or 987 came from the factory with an lsd. Was it an option per the 996? I seem to remember the perceived wisdom back in the day was that a caymen would beat a 911 round the ring if it had a limited slip diff so the factory forbid it cos of brand hierarchy or whatever.

I think everything Porsche post about 2002 has traction control.

I think the 987.2S had LSD as an option.
