Looks good, whats the spec? It's a 2004 3.2 V6 Tip with black leather, f/r parking sensors and sunroof, but no heated seats or satnav
Only 115k on the clock with history, so a bit of a bargain at under £5k
Here's a less snowy pic from the advert.
I'm looking into upgrading the bog standard cd player with a more modern 7" android satnav touchscreen, any suggestions?

Had to kiss a few frogs but I found one, 4th time lucky!
Got it home safe, weather turned slightly on the way back!

Upgrading the stereo needs someone who knows what they're doing as they need an interface box. Worth sounding out (sorry!) some of the local specialists.
Added a pic of mine!

Specs are always all over the place. A lot of V6 bought on a budget so lower spec. Although when I looked there were some V6s with loads of options which must have made them more money than a V8! Yours is a nice blue, one of the issues I had is so many are black or silver with black interior which I don't do. Mine is Dark Olive Green with a savannah interior.

Very nice, almost looks black there. I went to see a black V8 yesterday, looked good in the pics but was rough.Upgrading the stereo needs someone who knows what they're doing as they need an interface box. Worth sounding out (sorry!) some of the local specialists.

Seems like getting a headunit isn't straight forward is it? Not like the old days.
This is what's currently gracing the interior...

Hello, I'm taking delivery of a cheap cut of pork in the near future, hopefully on Friday or whenever the dealer fixes the bonnet release cable.
Others have said that I should take a look at this thread and I'm enjoying reading about everyone's experiences and thought I'd share my new purchase..
The pork product i have decided to spend my hard earned on is, fairly predictably, a 986 Boxster with a 2.7 litre motor. Mileage is low, with a smidge under 80k on the clock and there's 15 stamps in the book. It's had a few options ticked too, like electric leathery seats and a fancy Dan stereo.
Anyway, here's a picture...
The price I hear you ask? A shade under four grand.
To say I'm excited is an understatement. For context, my current steer is a Nissan Cumquat and it's been a lonnnng time since I owned anything remotely exciting.
One question.. What colour is it?
Cheers, Ian

So he picked this up at the weekend and appears to be loving it. I'm feeling quite smug because without me going on about mine he wouldn't have bought one. So all is good. He bought a 996.2 with 17 inch wheels and standard suspension. We checked the tyres and the fronts are ps2 dated 2008 so these are getting changed asap.
The clutch feels a bit stiff so does that mean its getting tired?
He thinks the engine mounts are feeling a bit saggy as he can feel the engine moving when you come on or off the throttle. He's thinking new ones are a good idea. I suggested he could have mine as they're quite new and I'm planning to go for some which are firmer.

It looks like Midnight Blue to me, but might be the light in the photo playing tricks. My 987 has a plate inside one of the doors that shows the colour name/code - Nacht Blau.Either way, it seems a great buy for that money. Hope you enjoy it.

My experience is with Boxster but I've no reason to think the advice differs - the clutches get heavy a long time before they every start slipping. When test driving used Boxsters I thought that a really heavy clutch must be normal, until I tried one that had just been replaced - and it was much lighter. So it probably wont slip or fail for many miles yet. but mid to long term I would plan it in - doing it at the same time as engine mounts and an RMS seal for instance would make a lot of sense.
My 996 clutch was really heavy but didn't seem to slip.
The release bearing was noisy and there was a bit of judder taking up drive.
So I whipped the gearbox off and fitted a new sachs clutch and luk flywheel (parts under £450, although I also replaced a load of other stuff while the box was off).
Now its as light and quiet as the wife's newish golf.
The clutch disc still had a little while to go before wearing to the rivets.

My clutch was heavy but I didnt notice as my second car is an auto......but I asked the guy who did the MOT to double check and he said its on the way out. It didnt slip but he said a matter of time......................so, its getting a new clutch next week then back on the market!
How did he check it out of curiousity?mikal83 said:
Took it for a drive and as he has owned boxsters....and others....for many years, I trust him
Will be interesting to see the old clutch when it's out. A heavy clutch is not always the sign of it being on it's way out. It can be one of the signs though so he may well be correct.mainline said:

It’s turned into a bit of a restoration obsession. I’ve put a new hood on it from BAS international (£700), spent £500 on a short shifter and CV boot and it’s currently at the Porsche bodyshop. Started as a £1500 partial respray but I’m now £2300 in! Oops!
Spotted this parked in a residents only area in Bayswater Saturday night on my way back from a night out.

It was still there the next day

Looked immaculate and well cared for. Was well specced with litronics and 18" Sport Designs and the owner has updated it with a glass hood. I like cars like these - parked on the road, probably a daily driver.
