I initially clicked on this advert as it was a colour I've not seen before. I read the service history on the advert and it's eye watering. I personally think listing all the costs for work done on the advert is a bad move, it's enough to scare you off owning a Porsche altogether. Who can justify bills like these on a 5k car?

I am going to speak to him later this evening. Cath has told me (not asked me ) not to exchange any money for any car without her inspecting it first. There was a nice sub 100k 2.7 986 with a lot of recent work, clutch, decent tyres, cooling system, etc that I had my eye on, high £5k ish. She was of the opinion that 6k could potentially get a very good 987. I'm not sure I agree. A £6k 987 is akin to A leggy sub £4k 986 IMO.
Moose, the ones I've seen advertised for £6k (which is my top limit) certainly didn't inspire confidence. I think you need to up it to £8.5k, personally. But, prove me wrong if you have anything in mind!
With the benefit of hindsight, I just think at this price point, you should get the best mechanical condition 986 you can find regardless of the engine size.

ATM, I presume that's for cars registered on an 06 plate or later. 05 and 55 should be cheaper.
YesI've asked a couple for sale and this is what I've been told. No idea why but feels like madness to me.
So, per earlier, here's one I've been sat on for myself but I can't decide what I want so I'll share it.

However, it had £5,000 spent on it a couple of years ago where many of the usual things were sorted. I'd want to look at it as the pictures make the colour consistency of the paint look a little variable. Looks like an example of buy it, sort it, don't use it, sell it.
I can't see how, if you pay the right price, that can depreciate or cost you much in the near term.

For me the colour is no no but thats very personal. I can see an argument for saying these cars are depreciation proof but then if you look at how there are for sale you may need to differentiate a little to shift yours and sometimes differentiation requires a cheaper price than the rest. But at this price point 500 is enough to differentiate by price.https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

The problem with these cars is the realisation that if you had one which was tip top why would you sell it for 4 or 5000. So then this leads you to think that the ones for sale are hiding big bills. So then this leads you to be super picky and then that causes stagnation or worry over load.
If you are realistic about the servicing bills then they are all a risk so you need to decide if saving a grand off the purchase price is important or choosing the perfect colour scheme or whatever else it is that floats your boat.
