986 for £6-7k with a contingency fund of £3-4k to put anything right. There are a few about, one not too far away with 2002 2.7 51k miles on for £6k. Leaving £4000 for the "didn't feel that on the test drive" moments after.
987 for £10k. Pay few hundred quid aside a month for the disaster fund.

So what Japanese pure EV did they go for?
Lexus...with the Germans it was a case of ring back in 6 months. It was in 2018.In 2018 Mercedes had the B250e (fully electric) and C350e and E350e plug in hybrids

Knock it off lads
Cayman GT4 engine here starting at £3500, it'll be interesting to see if it gets any bids. I'm not aware of the market for the engines but would expect they go for 15k+ usually.
Why was the link I posted deleted? It's nothing to do with me, just thought it was of interest considering the talk of expensive engine rebuilds a few pages back.

The doom mongers would have you believe ICE's will be banned in 10 years time.... it will take a lot longer than that to put a charging infrastructure in place. They have to find a solution for places big cites... how do you charge you car at home if you live in a flat and park on the street every night? You can hardly run an extension lead down 10 floors and across the pavement. Charging points need installing pretty much on every street.
Plus I'm not sure the grid has capacity to cope with x million electric cars.
You may laugh but this is what they do in China. My Mrs cousin lives on an 10th floor apartment and has an electric moped. It is on the open ground floor covered area and he drops an extension cable out his window and plugs in. Plus I'm not sure the grid has capacity to cope with x million electric cars.

Back on topic.... Go discuss your lease caca elsewhere.
But it is important as it will dictate where prices end up on Pork over the next few years. Will prices go down as people simply don't want them?
Will prices go up because they are the last of a kind that you can't buy anymore?
Who knows?

I'm in the market for a new daily and fun car for the summer, current daily shed is on its last legs and want to get back in to something fun. Budget of £10k.
Head:
Facelift NC MX-5 2.0 for around £6k and take it to BBR for the 200hp NA upgrade pack, new cams, exhaust etc, could even throw some wheels on it and nice suspension, all in for under the budget. Reliable, cheap to fix.

I've done my research and the doom and gloom stories are all over the place. Doesn't instill confidence at this end of the market. More akin to gambling than buying a car. Bore score, ims, water ingress, leaky rear main seals, radiators... Lining myself up for a royal stuffing. Might just do it anyway, who cares, it's only money isn't it...
Well it has to be heart. Head:

I'm liking the 986 more and more as the years pile on design wise.
You might even end up with one at £6k and.......perish the thought, not need to spend anything on it.

CH, my 986S may be up for sale shortly, comfortably within your £10k budget and somewhere near your acceptable car/contingency budget split. I haven't found Boxsters particularly cheap to run or that reliable to be honest, especially once 10-12 years old. Having £3k-£4k on hand is an excellent strategy. My last 987S only needed a steering rack and some tyres and a couple of other bits, still cost me over £2k in one hit and I had it less than a year. Wonderful car though.I'm in the market for a new daily and fun car for the summer, current daily shed is on its last legs and want to get back in to something fun. Budget of £10k.

Been quite impressed with the car!
Had a 2.5 boxster back in 2000 but moved onto a variety of “faster” models and newer boxsters including a 993 turbo and a 996 GT2.
The 2.5 can be driven in the upper rev ranges without crazy speed, nice feedback and weight from the steering and throttle, great driving experience and the top comes down.
Has been said on here previously fantastic value and could be the best value for money in the current used market.
Go get one and enjoy driving.
