Is it worse when cold?
Well its tighter than a Glaswegian accountant when its cold so I dont do much shifting and just stick to 1st and 3rd.
The box on my old E30 M3 was always reluctant when cold and I changed oil to Redline MT90 and was surprised at the improvement. I know some folk also use ATF with good results.
I've bought some fully synthetic Millers 75w90 for it. But I'm not sure when I'll get chance to do it.
Now changed. I did this yesterday and the engine oil too. I gave the car a little run first to warm it up and then after the change with the new oil. The old oil coming out looked brand new. I've not changed gearbox oil before so I'm not sure if it should look so clean but I suspect it was new or only lightly used. The gear change did feel a bit smoother after the change but the real test will be a cold start.

However there is as still some no man's land going down from 4th to 3rd. I didn't expect a fluid change to help with this.

On a more positive note. I fitted the 987 Cayman seats yesterday and these are amazing. So much better. Best thing I have ever done to a car. I am sitting much lower. I can barely even see the bonnet. I have more room for my knees below the wheel. It almost feels like the steering wheel is too far away now. But because I didnt connect up the wiring to the rake adjustment I will have to keep it like this. I'm thinking Momo next and centre console delete. It now feels like a sports car. It didn't before.

are the 9X7 seats generally agreed to be lower than the 9X6 seats?

Yes

And also further back.

So you sit In the seat more than On the seat.

That was a big selling point over the S2000 I was looking at before I got my 987 last year. Although had I known quite how high and fast S2K prices would rise in the last 18 months I might have put up with the teetering perches in it.

The 987 seats are also a bit wider.

A scrape on the rear bumper and the engine cover is a different shade.
I'm no expert but is that not expensive with 104k miles?

Yep. That is a £15k car max, and only because I'm a sucker for Fuchs and a ducktail.

Makes me realise just what a steal my own car was. Mine is in way better condition, is non sunroof and a manual C2! It certainly appears that manual car prices have risen a bit of late.

Everything is up. Manuals. Tips. Puppies. Horses. The lot!

But if a 3.6 C4 with 100k’s worth of scorey bores, multiple obvious cosmetic issues and the front axle likely slammed beyond the strut’s usable kinematic range for £22k is the new normal, count me out!

Yup, agreed. It highlights one of the reasons Ive alays hung around this thread, yet I didnt buy an old 996 after selling my Boxster. That £22k 911 looks scruffier and tattier than my 140k miles Boxster that I sold for £2700. I just can't make the maths work in my head.

Particularly with that car, I think it wil be down to the 'trendy' spoiler and Fuchs wheels.

Politely and Respectfully - you're an idiot

What were you thinking?

I hope this was many years ago when prices were rock bottom!

This one: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=16...

Sold in 2018. It had one year old suspension EVERYTHING. It was a bit cheaper than some, but for a private sale not a total loss. I was happy with the amount. If it was a 3.2 I might have kept it longer. I've had 3 more sportscars since then though. I'd love to keep them longer but theres just so much I want to try.

This >< close to a 996 a few times since but I've stuck with the small 2 seater jobbies.

Currently loving my new 986. Trying not to use it constantly so it still feels special. Have you driven any 996's?
