Procrastination:
Why do I keep dithering, I've seen a number of cars advertised, in the range of colours I want and within some sort of sensible budget. They're all too far distant to view personally, except a couple which were sold before I could get there. I can however arrange a professional viewing.
So why do I dither?
The fact that I can't view personally, or too many owners (is 6 too many on a 20 year old car when I tend to keep something about 3 years myself unless there's a personal link), or current owner has only had it for less than a year, or seat wear, or wheel type (I don't really like the imitation "split rim".
Am I rushing into this too quickly, should I wait for the "right car" within personal viewing distance (even if a professional view would be far more likely to spot a model specific problem). I note ATM took 3 or 4 years to find his car, surely it won't take that long?
I did the same a few years back when looking for a "cheap" 986. Went to see a few that were close by, nearly had Nick Giles inspect a few. Never did buy one, and then the market went crazy and suddenly the £4k cars I was thinking about were £6k and rising, and way out my (SWMBO's) budgetWhy do I keep dithering, I've seen a number of cars advertised, in the range of colours I want and within some sort of sensible budget. I bought a Mk1 TT Roadster instead (sacrilege)
There's a yellow 3.2S on AT just now in Glasgow at £9k. May be worth investigating
i just bought this little number. I am sorry that it is clearly in the wrong thread, but for the life of me I have no idea how i start a new thread on this site. I have reached out to the help desk and they have responded to me but i still cant do it. I have spent years on other forums, nothing quite as difficult as this.
I would love to give you guys the story behind getting into this car (its also my time with the brand). Can someone please help my out, I am trying to post from a desk top. best MBlondon

Why don't you post the video?
As requested:https://themarket.bonhams.com/en/listings/porsche/...
I've been looking at 986 and prefer something other than silver grey or black but the low owners etc bit of this attracted me.

I can't find the video with the engine noise so if anyone does please let me know and ideally a better link to it too please. The 3.4 engines are rough sounding and make all manner of random noises. Sometimes they can tick which is a dry tappet type noise. My 996 does this and it has done it the whole time I've had it. It comes and goes. It is not constant. Still uses no oil and runs fine.
I have seen a couple of random videos of other 996 cars doing this too so I am not concerned by it.
I found an example here - its a 3.6 - around 11 minutes 20 seconds in.
Odd on his video his is tapping and yet the oil pressure is high, normally they have have a load tick when hot that goes away when you increase the revs off idle or put aircon on or put into gear on tips. This is due to camshaft slap resonance. Quite common and not thought to be a problem though sounds pretty horrible. Other reasons are lifters weak if happens when cold or bore score ( terminal) so best to get it inspected properly before purchase.

Nice looking car
Still dip into this thread and especially after having spent a month swearing at my Lotus, I do occasionally wonder about going back to a Boxster, which (we all in here know) is still the biggest value cheap sports car you can buy.
Tonnes and tonnes of cars for sale currently as usual in Summer. But this one sticks out to me.
Early 3.2 - the one to go for in my opinion.
Good solid colour.
Tidy.
Half decent wheels and tyres.
Full Leather. Not Black.
Plenty of miles but not worn out, moon-and-back type plenty.
Good MOT history which you can easily match up to the servicing and repairs.
It just seems 'right' to me. Definitely one to go see if I was in the market with 5 to ten grand to spend.
