Well that started something, waiting for a response from the sellers then will discuss professional inspection of the car. He'll know more than I and like most for sale, it's not within a day round trip.
Thanks guys

Well, I just had a fun experience. I was shopping around for 996 Turbos on Swiss Autoscout, as one does, and one caught my eye that was competitively priced, though not extremely so.

The private seller informs us the car is in Polarsilber, which he says is a bespoke version of the regular silver. I did a google search, simply to check if there were better photos of Polarsilber 996s somewhere. Lo and behold, I noticed instead the "seller" had lifted most of the photos from an ad on Autoscout Germany. So I reported it.

In retrospect, the scam ad had some flaws, but one does not always actively watch out for these... caveat emptor, especially in these crazy car pricing times.

If you look for a reason to not buy a car you will find them easily. Sometimes you have to focus on what you want and look for a car which brings many positives rather than one with no negatives. Cars with no negatives just don't exist.

I beg to differ!

He's probably got someone coming, I can't imagine it being for sale for long.

I was going to write that but didn't want to be accused of being an eternal optimist, again. Time will tell but I can't imagine that car hanging around for long.

Spoke to seller, two viewings already arranged for today, can't imagine I can get an inspection arranged earlier so it's either hit the "Make an Offer" button or wait.

I think he'll be getting the asking price and it'll likely be bought as stock by a specialist.

Agreed

Full asking sounds cheap enough without bartering.

If the viewers who have already arranged try bartering you might get a chance to buy it. Otherwise it will probably sell quickly.

I enquired about this when it first appeared on autotrader. I asked for photos of option codes under bonnet and service book with service information.
It wasn't provided so I've moved on. It might just be that he thinks he's got an easier to deal with buyer lined up or there might be something not right. In any case I'm owt!!!
If somethings close enough I don't mind going and looking but if not I want answers to questions before I treck across country. I havent got the time or money to waste on fuel for it.
Be interesting to see where it turns up at!!

Allegedly: Older gentleman owner, younger more car savvy seller. My prob is my location, I'm local to virtually nowhere.

I just realised that you're probably on an island in NE Scotland - must be quite a challenge buying up there.

Although so many of the cars I see listed seem to be in Scotland, so too far, but that's probaby confirmation bias wink

Oban: Mainland WEST coast Scotland, two hours north of Glasgow and opposite Mull. Used to live on the Isle of Skye (a few hours further north) where the midgies outnumber the residents by about a million to one.
And yes two types of car up here: the 4x4 (RR, L200, Hilux etc) and the tourists in their hire cars.

I exaggerate - there's also the camper van, caravan, motorhome, builders trucks and a few normal cars as well as the occasional classic.

Right

Especially as most normal people would be trying to arrange to view at weekends.

Give that man a coconut - dealer bought although the third person to view. Oh well still looking, hopefully one will turn up closer than 500 miles and 5 train changes away.
