So, after changing out the condensers and drier, a great tragedy has befallen me.

DSC_0239 by ash_ashy_mo, on Flickr

This is the inboard pipe (furthest away from the sill) and appears to be slightly smaller in diameter to the other. I'm trying to figure out which part it corresponds to here (#6 or #10), as one is twice the price as the other:

Is it possible to repair instead of replace?

The smaller pipe is easier and cheaper to replace as it doesn't snake about quite as much. Worth doing it properly - the high pressure means it's hard to repair and its not too expensive

Mine's booked in mid April at northway for a check on timing chain, pads etc. I do annual oil and filter changes but probably do average of 4k miles per year. Engine (996 3.4) is on 112k miles, and nothing has been replaced yet. I check the filter every time and there's never any bits of plastic from the guides (or anything else for that matter) and also get the oil sent off for analysis which hasn't indicated any concern either.

The reason I'm taking it in is that I'm seeing excessive camshaft decision with the durametric so want it properly checked out and maybe replace the tensioners (one is weeping). However both northway and neinmeister said if there are no funny noises, it still pulls well, and no fault codes coming up then there's probably nothing too worry about. So I'm not smile

I'll report back in a few weeks
Do you rate ninemeister?

Anglia auctions have several Porsche that may be classed as poverty pork next Sat. I'm tempted by the Boxster 2.7 but what is it with that front bumper vent? Is it damage repaired or an enhancement / upgrade commonly carried out? Not noticed it before outside GT versions:

http://www.angliacarauctions.co.uk/classic/saturda...

There are 914s,several 944s, 911s and 924 / 928 etc.

It's not a "poverty pork" price but there's also a 997 Carrera S (76k miles) with a guide of less than £20k but why an auction? Engine could be borked I suppose and you've no come back:

It's just the GT3 smile bumper vent. It may not even have the ducting behind as 2.7 normally doesn't have a centre rad.

All of them a bit over-priced to be honest. That red 911's condition and MOT history already looks pretty scary coffee

Yeah that's hideous but is it just stuck on or actually a hole? It serves no purpose there without any central rad except maybe airing your shopping in the frunk. Surely a new bumper needed and they dont cost much. But at this price every couple of hundred quid matters right.

That's not even a GT3 bumper is it? Looks like aftermarket tat, wonder what else has been done to it?

Ignoring the tyres and clutch there isnt a lot of maintenance there. But at least there is some. It looks cheap enough too.

Sorry my mistake it was ninex I spoke to, not ninemeister. FWIW ninex seem like a really good indie, passionate about porsche. They apologised that they had just finished rebuilding an M96 and already installed it otherwise they would have taken me round it and showed me how to check the timing etc. Unfortunately they were already busy with another big project and I'd already agreed an appt with northway (albeit with the normal 4-5 week wait).
But from my experience so far I'd have no worries giving them work.

Would need to ascertain why and by whom the engine was rebuilt (and what was done), but this could be a bargain:

It's on ebay too for £3600 or offers.

Goes into more detail. Apparently, has quite a bit of paperwork. I suspect it's got one of those cheap aftermarket drone-fest exhausts.

That boxster has been floating about for awhile now. I first saw it for sale with the modern classic car company (I recommend giving them a google btw). It didnt sell with them and went to auction at Morris Leslie up near Perth, sold for £3392:

https://www.morrisleslie.com/auctions/classic-cars...

The ebay ad that chap originally put up advised he took it in part exchange. If he did, someone bought it at the auction in Perth and promptly off loaded it.

Something doesnt smell right IMHO, which is a real shame because it looks like a nice car on the outside and was the reason I noticed it in the first place, and keep noticing it where ever I seem to go!
