so are you happy with how short it is or would you go SSK if doing it again?
Yes I am loving it, I've driven Porsche before with the SSK which is also very nice, but I think its a bit too short, as the stock shifter is still short compared to most cars, afterall they are sport cars. Biggest issue with the SSK I find is on those winter days when the box is cold it can be a little harder work for the first 5 minutes of driving.

Onto the gen2 GT3 shifter, well I love it, the gear change is so precise and feels like a real rifle bolt, the throw seems identical to the stock 997 shifter, but the feel is different due to the metal bushings and it also has zero issue so far on a cold morning.

So yeah think I'd go with the gen2 GT3 shifter if I was doing it again as I just love the feel of it compared to the stock shifter, it also feels a lot tighter, but that could just be newness though.

OEM SSK should be around £250 from any OPC & is a simple retrofit to do yourself if you have a little knowledge & the proper tools.

It shortens the throw by approx 30%. It can be a little bit sticky in 1st & 2nd when cold, but not really an issue.

Superb mod all round! Just do it!

When I first test drove the Cayman S I was disappointed with the gear shift. However, I had a S2000 at the time and that has one of the best in the business so it was likely that most other cars wouldn't feel as good. I had the SSK fitted as a factory option and it was much better.

I have a brand new never fitted OEM Porsche SS kit here.

I would take £190.

Sorry for the thread resurrection, but I'm interested in opinions of the difference between the 997 SSK and the GT3 shift. Pondering buying one or the other.

Bonus if anyone is bored with theirssmile
