Why does your turbo have a C4S front splitter?

If it came with it then this is the second turbo I've seen from RSJ with the incorrect front splitter on a turbo.
Why is it when someone posts a positive post on PH there are always people who have to look for the negative?

No idea. The previous owner may have changed the splitter.

I viewed my car when it had just arrived, before it had been prepared by RSJ so I got to see it 'warts and all' with the current splitter on.

An OPC may go to the effort of changing it (for originality and warranty) but I wouldn't expect an independent to do so and I actually prefer the look of the C4S splitter over the standard turbo version.

Front splitters on 911's should be viewed consumables, they occasionally get scraped (which is why I don't like the [painted aerokit type).

Sounds like your enjoying the car alot, good stuff smile. They are car's which cover all bases, comfortable and relaxed, and stupidly quick when you need to! Even my mum thinks the car is comfy, the last time she said that was when I had a Lexus GS300.

I've not experienced an X50 911 Turbo yet,but been in a friends DMS tuned 911 Turbo and that was silly quick! Plus obviously my fairly stock 911 Turbo

Regarding the splitter, quite alot of early Turbo's came with the C4S splitter fitted, including my 2001 Turbo.

Sticks out to far to be completely standard. You may well have got a sports exhaust free! Bonus!

That's odd. It looks like it sticks out just as far as on my Turbo S, and that's just a standard exhaust as far as I'm aware. I've got the same tips as the OP; perhaps they are adjustable?

Anyway, back on topic - a great choice of car smile

I could be wrong. (It did happen once before, 1997 I think it was... biggrin )

Yes, irrespective of right/wrong exhuast positions, and incorrect splitters (which defintely are consumables - I don't think any negativity was intended by the other chap), it is a great car and a lot to be very happy about.

How strange - I have a very similar story, which ended up with me buying a seal grey 996 Turbo S cab from Joel in June this year. I'm very happy with it.

Positive, negative, take it however you want - I'm just pointing out the fact.

At speed, you're being short-changed by not having the the proper aero equipment on the car - although given you've said you prefer looks over function, I won't flog a dead horse.

Only if they have been replaced, only one part# for turbo front splitter plus C4S wasn't even available when turbo was released in 2000.

Thought I'd write a quick update on life with my 996 turbo and just noticed I've had the car for exactly 7 months today!

The Bad
A couple of weeks ago when the weather turned noticibly cooler the engine warning light came on. So I dropped in to RSJ and Martin plugged it in, noted an oxygen sensor warning had come on and reset it asking me to advise if it came on again, which it did.

I arranged to drop it off and when I did asked them to have a look at the clutch which had been light at times and heavy at others. Joel has on hand and when he tried it he agreed something definately wasn't right, suggesting the clutch slave cylinder.

The Good
RSJ replaced the faulty oxygen sensor and clutch slave cylinder.

All I can say is WOW, I was shocked at how light the clutch is and my 996 turbo now feels and the whole car is so much better! smile

Thanks again to the RSJ team for their support when called upon!

Thanks Stub...very happy owner they are outstanding value.

I had a lift in a 997 C2s the other day and I honestly prefer the interior in my 996 turbo!

If anyone is undecided on one go and try one they're fantastic cars and so capable.

Think i may end up back in a 6T.
Loving the GT2 which is obviously a different animal, but for my life style and 2 sprogs i can get more use out of a 6T so that's what i will do i reckon.

Anybody with a "nice" Turbo who fancies going up to the next stage PM me.

A colleague of mine has just swapped a very nice stock 6T for a 9E car (Franks), so speak to Ken & see what he wants for it. Knowing the trade in, I would imagine its very good VFM.

what do we think about this? Hate the wheels but is a guards 996 such a faux pas?
Personally its great - would compliment the 944 a treat. Actually scratch that - it would make it look soo pink!

Guards is pretty rare on a 6T which is ironic, but when launched in 2000 we were all a conservative silver/grey nation. I like Porsche colours Yellow/Red/White.
Personally it looks okay but for me needs proper wheels.

Bet the cars had coil overs/ lowering springs at some point. Only one reason people fit c4s front splitter, and that's to get over speed humps easier in lowered car.

I remember when red was the most popular colour for a car. I also remember having an old MR2 that took a lot of work to get back from being orange.

I do like the look of the 996TT in red, would just want to make sure it didn't end up looking like something from a tango advert
