Well, its a good thing at least I agree with you slippy cause if I didn't, I dont think I could counter all that.
Tell me, did you actually type all that or cut paste it in, cause if you typed all that then there must be Piston Heads literary award for responses going beyond the call of duty. type .... read ..... nuts
laugh
That would be telling ! biggrin

Either way, sorry to hear you're leaving the Porsche fold, do stick around, it's good to have a fellow rally nut on the forum !

I can see we're at cross purposes. I'm not for one moment suggesting that all (or indeed many) brake judder/"warped" disc issues are caused by the formation of cementite. Merely that it can and does occasionally happen. The vast majority of "warped" discs aren't, they're merely cases of, as you've found out, inconsistent pad transfer layers. A few days ordinary driving removes that layer.
I know it's a long read, but worthwhile nontheless.

Quick update: Popped out the other night in the 911 to my private motorway. Warmed the brakes thoroughly by slowing from around 90 to 50 several times, then did 4 or 5 hard brake applications from around 100 down to 30 (I'll not mention the unit of speed measurement on a public forum...) and drove at a steady 60 or so for 15 miles or so to cool everything down.

Have used the car over the week-end, mostly fairly gently 'cause of traffic, but with a bit of vigour here and there and the new set-up is feeling good. Thanks for all the input.
