Had a letter yesterday from my OPC asking if i wanted to sell my porsche to them or trade in as they require used models!

Just wondering if anyone has ever had that in the past and recived a realistic offer or is this one of those get you in to buy another car routine. As I might be London bound and a life on the tube awaits its got me chin taping but hate to drive a hour for a brew and bulls**t

I have never had a realistic buy-in offer from a dealer but I guess its worth a phone call if you fancy a change.

Not my Porsche but had one last week for my volvo. Told me there was a huge used car shortage because number of new car sales had dropped and 2-3 year old cars were attracting a premium. Would I like to trade it in? No was the answer - I will have a go selling privately and take the extra £1500-2000 for myself!!

I had the same about 3 years ago, but not by letter by phone.

They called me and asked if I wanted to change my 2 year old Cayenne for a new one and if they could complete the sale within the month, before May, they would give me a good trade in price on my old car. Did the deal and as always got othing of my new car but got a great trade in value to more or less the price they sold it for.

Think its more about selling new rather than needing used.

I got a reasonable price for my GT3 from an OPC. Yes it was below the wildly exaggerated prices that were floating around on PH. However once you priced in the warranty, two new tyres, rear brake work required it a better deal than any of my private offers and no hassle.

I had that yesterday from Porsche Bristol. Sadly they don't have a nice GTS to haggle over otherwise I'd be tempted, if the offer for my car was right...

Yes, I've had one of those - ignored it because I knew the price offered would have been insulting.

The price to change is all that matters obviously.

Simple. Just call them referencing the letter and ask for an indicative price over the phone for outright purchase. If they don't oblige tell them to stuff it!
