I've driven all but the California and so it would be the Ferrari I'd be testing. Can't help feeling it is a little girly though.

The Bentley is ridiculously cumbersome in this company, though nimble for its 9 tonnes. I've driven one across Scotland. Great GT, but not a sporty drive.

The Maser is still too big. Feels like a raunchier Jag XFR to me.

Quite interested to know how the California drives tbh, did think of cross-shopping it against my 991 as (some) second hand versions are down at similar money, but decided to stay with Porsche for now.

What. - no GT-R in the list? wink

Would be the Maser for me (but never driven one...)
I bet you've spent a lot of time in the showroom sitting in one though.
No, never even sat in one.

Doesn't matter how it drives though - I go for looks over dynamics, hence I'd never buy a 991.
(especially a Cheshire White one)

991 Cabrio - SLIM

Ferrari California - MEDIUM

Maserati GT - BUXOM

Bentley GTC - FAT
biggrin just imagine trying to get a buxom fat car through the narrow lanes of the Cotswolds. always lusted after the masser - a thinking man's Aston IMHO but an sfo says it wide and reliable as an italian stallion with VD. The bentley's ok, but on the twistys I was having a hard time keeping up with ford mondeo man who decided to give me a run for my money.

Ferrari dealership was awful.

Cali was quick but did not feel like a complete car. Have to stop to raise/lower roof. Windbreak interfered with seat with driver of 5'10" - it would be useless with anyone taller. Subdued with roof up, a bit raspier with roof down.

Maser was a really nice car for the money (they have two 2012 GT S in Leeds for £80k brand new - big discount). Quick, like a Jag with passion and flair. GREAT engine note. Poor ergonomics. Lots of fiddly buttons. Boot on cabrio will take a couple of cartons of milk - that's about all.

Bentley - detail is fantastic, so much thought has gone into what makes it work. Even in such a big car, rear seats are for shortish journeys only. Big car, but super luxe. Pretty quick for it's weight.

991 looks lovely - but I didn't get to drive one. My friend drove it in the morning and I had booked to drive it at 3pm. Arrived at OPC and was asked to take a seat and someone would take me out momentarily. I waited 30 minutes and saw another customer come in and get three salesmen around them like bees on honey and then left.

Overall the OPC left me pretty disappointed - having spent well north of £100k with them the only person who acknowledged my presence was the nice redhead in marketing who remembered me picking up my GT3 RS last year. She was so enthusiastic about the car - she even remembered my personal plate. Shame no-one was interested.

Short list is now 991 v Bentley as he has been given that for a 48 hour test drive. Very different cars, different price, but both great.

Well you clearly don't do you. When I last saw you (if memory serves me correctly) you were driving a white Cockster Spyder in West Bridgford looking quite ill at ease. You were looking around as if on one hand you wanted people to notice you, but on the other you were embarrassed by the attention because there is a part of you that doesn't feel you are worth it.

You'd obviously had the roof down for some time because your hair had been blown back off your (and I mean this in a good way) quite high forehead. You looked vaguely like a midget driving a shoe.

It was not, my friend, a good look.

I've driven the California - nice car but it would have to be the 991s for me, I think.

For the Mrs on the other hand Cali or Maser I think.

Like you, I have no hair - it wasn't me.

Unlike you, I don't need a cushion under my arse to see out the windscreen.

Think I saw you the other day bimbling through Shelford.

Bizarre.

Actually Manks, having digested what you've written whether serious if just being stupid, I think you're correct.
I do feel embarrassed driving the bloody thing - cant imagine what I was thinking buying it.

I felt embarrassed driving the 911, I'm a shrinking violet and don't need or want ( nor can afford) flashy cars anymore.
Thanks for confirming what I always thought!

Trout - apologies for taking your thread off topic.

Maybe he was letting one off? hehe
