I`ve found Carl really helpful. He once took me for a run in a 70`s 911 just to see what I thought. Then last November I bought a 993 from him, no pressure, arranged a test drive, my wife and I took off and had a decent run.Had as much time as we liked. Did a deal and he even arranged for a small dint on one panel to be removed which I hadn`t even spotted.
Friendly, helpful and I`ve had some good advice from him subsequently so not just a question of being nice till he gets your dosh.
I would use him again no problem..

wow! nearly two years between postings! How does that happen then?
Probably a bit like this.Having done a bit of recent research, it looks like PCT are closing next week for good, and Martin Brown may have moved - is this his website?
Porschetec
Excuse the hijack - I'm in Coventry and possible in need of a indie recommendations - either that or go to OPC Solihull (who appear to be fab based on my limited interaction with them so far)
Thats a real shame - i was due to book mine in for some work with PCT in the new year. Now need to do research again for someone local to South Leicester. I'm aware of GCR in Wigston which I've visited.
I wonder why PCT didnt sell up as a going concern?
Anyway, let search 2 begin!

All I'd say is be patient. Good things come to those that wait ..... sorry if that's a bit cryptic, but I chatted with the guys there a couple of weeks ago, and your patience may be rewarded I wonder why PCT didnt sell up as a going concern ?

Interesting.5 year lease - I've had half an eye on that space for a couple of years now.
Let me know if there's ever any opportunity to rent showroom space.
It's disappointing PCT are closing - I bought my 996 C4 from them and they did all the servicing, did a really good job. I am in Leamington Spa and would appreciate any views on other good indy Porsche specialists within reasonable driving distance.
I've done a bit of research and found the following options, appreciate any views or alternatives I should consider:
- Martin Brown, Meridian
- Zuffenhaus, Birmingham
- Autofarm, Bicester

Bought my first Porsche a 964RS from Shirleys back in 2007, as others have said, Carl is easy to deal with and doesn't flatter his stock with lots of superficial prep., what you see is what you get - simple. He will haggle on price too - he gave me a discount on the 64RS as I had no PX and I was cheeky enough to ask for a discount.
Took my 64RS to PCT for fault diagnosis, wasn't overly impressed with them TBH. Bob Watson (sadly no longer with us) cured the problem. In my experience Fearnsport at Silverstone are one of the best Indies in the Midlands, very knowledgeable in both water cooled and air cooled Porsches.

They’ve been shut less than 2 weeks !!!
They’d been servicing/fixing Porsche’s 30 + years !!!
Give them a break !!!
But seriously, from the conversation I had with Simon, nothing was set in stone, I’m guessing they’ll want a break to regroup, and will then decide if they want to reform at all, then decide who’s staying and who’s going, they’ll have to draw up a business plan, find premises, fit them out, equip them with their workshop equipment etc etc.
My guess is it’ll be some months before they make a decision or indeed if they do actually reappear in another guise.

For those waiting for a much overdue update to this thread, please note PCT Select have been up and running for a while now www.pctselect.co.uk
It's run by Richard who was one of the mechanics at PCT in Coventry.
Same top level s of service just a new location and smaller operation.
