GPS Antenna is in the scuttle panel along with the GSM phone antenna (the grey plastic under the screen) as previous poster said, they are on the passenger side above the pollen filter housing - radio antennas are in the screen.

Pound to a penny o'pig shi# the screen guys have busted off the blue Fakra connector housing from the antenna when they removed the scuttle..........

Not seen many like that............
This is what appears to have happened to mine. Spoke to the guys at Bristol OPC who said this was EBay only item? Is it easy to fit?

I couldn't work out (didn't take the whole scuttle of), if the blue connector was part of the antenna wire itself (and had come away), or if it was part of the scuttle?

This sounds like the same problem I had on my system, pcm2.1 on a cayman. It turned out to be one of the settings. You have to select "location" in the menu and then the map displays where you are. I can't remember which menu it was in but it only took me a few minutes to find it.
Hope this helps.

I have the same problem with my GT3, sat nav map still stuck in Birmingham. Have tried to find connection near battery but one of the posts says grey plastic under screen. Is this inside car on dash or by battery under bonnet.

If it helps anyone this is how my satnav was fixed. I got the car plugged into a diagnostic computer, and although there was a connection, it wasn't good and that was why the satnav was stuck, in my case in Oxford.

After changing the blue Fakra connector which was on the scuttle panel above the pollen filter (It shouldn't be on the scuttle panel, it should be on the antenna cable itself) all is good.

It does appear this is fairly common when screens are replaced as the cable can get yanked out, which happened in my case. Or, can happen after the pollen filter is replaced with a service.

Bump......

Not dissimilar to the OP.

I had a windscreen replacement last week. Used the SatNav a fair amount this week and then for no reason it started playing up.
Pressing buttons I realised that there were "0 satellites" signal.

Tried rebooting and all that and have just taken the scuttle off and re located the right angle connector that sits on top of the Pollen Filter (although is felt 'home' beforehand)
Still no Satellites, and I have also done the 1,4,8 button press.

Any thoughts before I get the AutoGlass monkeys back on the phone ? ?

Ta
I had this after Autoglass windscreen replacement (actually 2 screens as the first was a poor fit, so they ordered and supplied a genuine screen for me). Problem then was the fitter snapped the blue connector that holds the GPS aerial lead to the aerial itself under the scuttle trim. I poked my phone under there to get a picture, and the fitter had tried to bodge it back with sealant!

The lead had to be replaced and I insisted that Autoglass pay my local OPC to make the car good. bill was £650!

They don't return you calls or emails, so I complained to my insurer and then they were calling me straight away and nothing was a problem

The service from Autoglass is shocking.

Sorry for the bad news.. Kick up a fuss and you should be OK.

I spoke to a fitter at the local Autoglass and as i started to ezplain the problem with reception, he butted in and said "is it a 911 or a boxster?"

Its a well known issue. If only there were more carefull.

Im convinced it was my complaint to Axa that made all the difference. I complained as much about the lack of responce to my phone call and e-mail as the actual damage. I wasnt given the option to use anyone other than Autoglass, so in my eyes AXA were accountable for the situation.

996 GPS not working but satellites are in view

Just thought I'd add my tuppence-worth here. My PCM 2 GPS has been showing fairly random map views (around this area but not where the car is currently located) for some months now despite claiming to have several satellites in view and quoting reasonable coordinate on the info screen.

Tried all sorts to fix this but failed, until today..!

The car has just returned reform its annual safety check. One of the ABS sensors was faulty and has been replaced as part of the service. Now the GPS WORKS AGAIN..!!! smile

I guess the system required speed input from this particular speed sensor (front, left ABS speed sensor) and so it is all working again.

Just thought I'd post this here in case anyone else is struggling with the same problem at some time.

Cheers,
Scott

Thread revivial, do you know which blue Fakra connector they replaced it with?

This seems to be the one in question, but none have the metal coax integrated and out the side like that https://www.planet-9.com/gallery/files/3/DSC09926_...

Fakra cable repair kit has been launched by PAG now; OPC's should all have received one auto-issue (we have one in Reading). Saves on a complete lead replacement.

Hi everyone - I’m a newbie Porsche Cayenne owner and I currently have problems with the satnav!

It’s the PCM2.1 unit and everything works except my satnav. It just shows the ‘insert navigation dvd’ and never progresses

I have the dvd that came with the car (it was a private sale) and the PCm2.1 unit seems to recognise a DVD is at least put in the navigation unit but no luck ever getting maps us

I’ve read a lot online and can confirm I get satellites so the GPS looks like it’s ok getting at least 5 sats

I’ve tried a DVD cleaner in the navigation unit but no luck

I also have a 2015 navigation DVD that I bought but after reading up I’m scared on inserting as apparently I could brick my BOSE amp

I do notice that the navigation unit only has a TARGET version and not an actual version number (unlike all the other devices) don’t know if that means anything??

Any ideas anyone? I’ve added photos of what info I get from the PCM unit

If you have sound, and no error messages at startup, it sounds to me like the MOST loop is OK, so the problem is either the map DVD or the navigation drive has gone bad.

The 2015 map won't work, as the system needs updating before it will read it. The system has never been updated as it has the original 1.0 system software. There are 3 or 4 updates required to bring it up to date.

The amplifier is not a problem on Cayennes - it was only an issue on very early 987s and 997s.

If you want to try updating the system to the latest operating system software, drop me an email via the link in my profile. If it is your map DVD that is the problem, then updating it would work, but if it is the navigation drive itself then it will need replacing/repairing.

Hi Richard - thanks for your reply - I am totally new to Porsche so this is a nice learning curve for me smile

Yes I would like to give the updating ago as long as I 100% wont kill the BOSE amp - just what I read in other places it would be an issue

Its a 2004 Cayenne and as I say everything works well Ive just never got the SATNAV working - private sale and I stupidly didn't check the satnav on purchase (another lesson learnt)

Ive tried sending you an email but it says not available until 24 hours have past - I'm a new member frown

BTW how on earth do you get the navigation unit out from under the seat? wanted to make sure all connections were in place etc

thanks
Shane

Also Richard I also went and bought another PCM2.1 unit however the software on that WAS 4.1

Its a long story but basically the screen was knackered on the one that came in the car - the one that's on version 1 software - so replaced with one I bought which had software 4.1 but I still got the same issue with DVD not being recognised.

So today I switched over the front LCD's so working screen on the older version 1.0 software unit - thinking satnav would finally work - but it hasn't.

So I'm kinda wondering if its just the navigation unit that needs updating only?? As each time with the newer version unit 4.1 the 2015 DVD didn't work?

And more importantly is that pointing to the navigation unit being faulty?

The navigation version shown on the screen is read from the navigation unit itself. The 2704 means week 27, 2004. (The original version).

I suspect the DVD reader mechanism has failed, but they can be replaced by audio specialists. However, it is worth trying the update CD. You never know your luck. At least it would prove if the drive is reading or not.

Email me when you get access.
